Maybelline actually has two variants from Instant Age Rewind range: the first one is targeted to conceal dark circles, and this one that I have is for dark spots. Since I already own a concealer that helps to brighten my under eye area, I decided to try this one to conceal my acne, acne scars, and other unwanted spots on my face.
Revolutionary concealer and vitamin C treatment covers instantly, while fighting dark spots over time. Concentrated Vitamin C formula visibly decreases dark spots in just 4 weeks*. Targets signs of aging, dark spots, acne scars and sunspots. – taken from Maybelline’s website.
I’ve never done an ‘Empties’ post before, so I thought I should do one, and more often. With the amount of beauty products that I’ve purchased, it will be a good thing to keep track of what I actually used up.
L’Occitane Shea Butter Lip Balm Stick – I have used tubes and tubes of this. It’s one of my essentials for keeping my lips chapped-free. Because the balm is rather soft, I always store it in a cool place to prevent a mushy mess. And yes, I always keep unopened stock in my house.
Hi everyone! As one of the newer additions to the Fashionese Daily editorial team, I thought there would be no better way to introduce myself than by letting everyone in on the contents of my makeup bag. You know how they say the eyes are the window to someone’s soul? Well I’d expand on that theory by suggesting that the exposed contents of a an urbanite’s makeup bag are the window to her mind, soul, and well-being. Go easy on my assessment, here we go!
Mesh pouch. Picked this up at a two-dollar store in Singapore, initially as a temporary solution to a previous makeup bag that had fallen apart. Quickly discovered it was perfect for traveling because its small size forced me to take only what I need: anything that did not fit just would not come along. I’ve been meaning to look for a prettier replacement, but its appeal to my inner utilitarian has grown over time.
Medication. I’m an asthmatic who happens to be allergic to everything, so I have to carry around a pouch of assorted antihistamines and painkillers to keep me from morphing into a mobile biohazard.
Make Up Forever Duo Mat Powder Foundation # 207. Considering how lazy I am when it comes to applying makeup, this has been nothing short of a godsend. A single swipe of this lightweight formula is enough for matte all-day coverage. As with most other foundations, it will oxidise a little, but definitely not to the Oompa Loompa-ish lengths that other foundations will put you through.
Pot of Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 in Sand. I live in constant fear of one day waking up in the middle of the zombie apocalypse (totally not kidding, by the way), so I always carry around a small tub of my favourite moisturizer in case I have to embark on a week-long hike to a muster point. Great coverage and sun protection with a dewy finish that will not buckle under the stress of excessive sweating from running around during a zombie invasion.
Make Up Forever Aqua Eyes Eyeliner #10. Arguably one of the best pencil eyeliners in the business. It is waterproof, oil-proof, and sweat-proof, therefore meeting the holy trinity of eye makeup ideals.
Bobbi Brown Long Wear Eyeliner in #14. I’m almost certain that dinosaurs still roamed the earth when I bought this, but the formula has stubbornly refused to dry out. This shimmery ivy green shade glides on easily and is especially great for impromptu dinner parties.
Revlon ColorStay Liquid Liner and off-brand liquid eyeliner. The liquid eyeliner in the Revlon finished a long time ago, but I keep it around because its sturdy felt brush tip makes application much easier than fine, flimsy brushes you find on most liquid eyeliners. Since I’ve had a hard time finding a replacement bottle, I use a cheap (but excellent!) eyeliner and draw it on with the Revlon brush.
Laura Mercier Eyebrow Pencil in Brunette. I’m very fortunate to have naturally thick, dark eyebrows, but despite this bounty, nature can also be cruel: for all its fullness, I still have to draw my eyebrows in because they are comically asymmetrical in length and shape. Brown eyebrow pencils have always looked strange on me, so I was very pleased to find that Laura Mercier produced a gray shade that fit the Goldilocks zone: juuuuust right.
Maybelline Volum’ Express The Falsies in Black. I rarely wear mascara (taking it off at the end of the day takes up more time than I care for), but when I do, I love what Maybelline’s curved, thick-bristled brush does to my lashes. The formula also never clumps, which is excellent for girls who buy mascara once in a blue moon.
NYX Black Label Lipstick in Socialite. A warm, subtle coral red that’s great for daytime traipsing when patted on lightly, but giving it a sweep across your lips will take you from day tripper to dancing queen in two seconds.
Nivea Fruity Shine in Strawberry. A lip balm that gives off just the right amount of sheer pink colour, gloss, and moisture on days when all you want to do is stay home and watch DVDs.
Shiseido Perfect Rouge Lipstick in PK 303. Now, this. There are not enough words in the English language to describe how much I enjoy this product. I go through tubes of these the way a small, hungry schoolboy would go through a box of donuts. My nude go-to shade for everyday wear, it is unbelievably moisturising and versatile in equal parts.
