the (not so) new kid in town

Hanzky in Books & Magazine — July 24th, 2006 (9 views / Print this article )

i know the magazine industry back home is booming, so there’s always new magazine or tabloid popping out every other week, it’s hard to keep up, especially if you live far away from home like me. my mom sent me this indonesian version of eve magazine last month, it’s the fastest - growing magazine in Britain, dan enggak heran sih kalo bakalan jadi the fastest growing magazine in Indonesia because it lives up to its slogan; beautiful, useful, real.

anyway, i think it is now one of my favorite magazines.

and oh, i want the mango canvas bag and (especially and most importantly) the yellow chanel purse on page 95…byuuutiful!!!

jumping on the bandwagon

Hanzky in Denim — July 24th, 2006 (12 views / Print this article )

i have finally bought me a pair of skinny jeans..i got it from express because they have the length that is perfect for my height that i don’t need to get it hemmed and plus i don’t wanna spend lots of money on something that i’m still not sure about, this one was originally $59.50 but it was on sale for $39.50 and took the size 4 (damn vacation weight) home. I chose the dark denim since i’m looking for the slimming effect..:p the denim sure was tight, it hugged your every curve but it’s very stretchy so half an hour later, it loosened up a lot to the point that it didn’t feel comfortable anymore. so since i had not taken the tags out (i just wore it around the house), i brought it back to the express store (in different mall) to get it exchange to size 2…and lucky me, this other store has reduced the price to $29.50 so since i only bought it a day before they decided to give me a price adjustment…heheh, my very first price adjustment. toko2 di sini memang begitu, kalo dalam beberapa hari barang yang kita beli udah di turunin lagi harganya, kita boleh minta price adjustment, so in my case, they gave me $10 back. i guess that’s the benefit of frequent visit to the mall, hehe..soalnya retail store di sini harga nya suka nggak sama walaupun sama sama GAP juga misalnya.

anyway…selain price adjustment, di sini kalo kita kenal sama sales associate nya, bisa minta simpenin barang barang yang kita incer, jadi kalo udah deket waktunya sale, kita tinggal dateng dan tunjuk aja barang2 yang kita mau. nanti di simpenin dan pas tanggal sale nya mulai, kita tinggal balik ke toko itu untuk bayar barang2nya dengan harga yang udah di sale, lumayaan kan??..neiman marcus does that, makanya kalo pas lagi neiman marcus last sale udah nggak ada barang apa apa itu karena udah di ‘tek’ in duluan sama orang orang laen..heheh..you just got to be smart to beat the hungry bargain hunger!!

back to basic

now i know, one of the things that i don’t need to go to sephora for my beauty regime is the facial cleanser, because my local walmart and walgreens carry them. it’s none other than CETAPHIL, heheh. i know, sometimes what you are looking for is already right in front of you. you just didn’t pay enough attention. this facial cleanser is recommended by most dermatologist, it does its job really well; cleansing your face and keeps the skin smooth and supple. it’s perfect for sensitive skin since it’s very gentle (you can even use it as a body wash for babies), it’s also odor-free. i’m so happy with this product.

introducing my newest toy..

i’ve been wanting a pocket digital camera since a long time ago but always reconsider the thought because there was nothing wrong with my old camera, the canon G3 which i’ve owned since 3 years ago. it takes superb pictures and has all the features that i need, the only complain is it’s huge, it takes up so much space in my bag and it is also heavy, so it’s a pain ITA to take it around all the time and that sucks since i like to have my camera with me at all times.

anyway, i took thousands of pictures during my east cost trip and i used the zoom feature most of the time and i switched the screen mode every few minutes and what do you know…it broke down as i got back to this old st. louis…so off it went to the repair center (thank god for performance plan) and off i went to best buy to get me a new digicam (i sort of hope they won’t be able to repair the camera so they can just send me a voucher..hehe, but i know i’m gonna miss my canon G3)

at first i wanted the canon s80 but that thing is sold out everywhere, i think it’s the best camera out there, especially for compact size (well it’s not that compact, a bit bulky but you can still hold it in your palm). since i couldn’t that one, i opted for the canon SD 630. the first thing that lured me to this camera is it’s stylish and ultra sleek design and also it’s huge LCD screen, the world is so much bigger when you view it through the screen..:p. so far, it works great, i do feel the quality is less than the G3 but still takes high quality shots and of course comparing the two cameras is like comparing apple and orange. they are different. this one is more like point of shoot kind of camera, you can’t even set up the shutter and aperture level. but there are a few manual settings that are fun to experiment with like the wide scene, the color swap and color accent to name a few. overall, for what it’s worth, the camera is perfect and i highly recommend it.

i wonder what anyone camera is and how do you like it?

another trip?

Hanzky in Travel — July 14th, 2006 (6 views / Print this article )

i know i have promised to update this blog as soon as i got back from my east coast trip, but it’s harder than i have imagined since i still have family members from j town (all 9 of them) up until a few days ago, so i had been trying to be a good host and drove them everywhere and by the time we got home, it was always too late and i was too tired to type. but now they have left so i have a little room to breath (and blog..hehe), my mother in law is still here until next weekend. but i probably won’t update until next week when i get back from my weekend getaway, enggak jauh jauh sih cuma ke chicago aja. the east coast trip was more like a touristy trip so this one is dedicated for a full blown shopping trip..heheh…have a good weekend everyone..=)

i’m in new york right now, heheh..that explains the lack of new entries heh?..i’ve been away from st. louis since last saturday and won’t be back until july 4…so there won’t be any updates from me until then. so far, it’s been a nice little vacation, we stopped by chicago, cleveland, niagara falls on the way here, and went to manchester, vermont yesterday and i’m telling you, it’s a beautiful place and it has nice outlet too. today is boston trip and tomorrow we’re planning to spend the whole dah in woodbury outlet, harriman (the biggest outlet in the usa) before finally go to new york city until the weekend. I’m praying for the rain to stop so it does ruin our plan…Have a good day everyone…=)
