What Does One Wear to A Funeral?

Before anyone make any judgments about how silly it is thinking about outfits to wear to a funeral..I know that what matter most is that we being there, the mourning family would be too emotional to even think about the guests’ outfits. But I believe that we go to a funeral to show sympathy, support and respect..and one of the ways to show respect is by dressing appropriately.

In the West, people are really concern about what to wear to a funeral, it’s common that they even have to shop for the appropriate clothes before attending the service. We’ve all seen movies with a funeral scene where the men are wearing black suits and women are stylishly wearing their black trench coat or black pencil skirt or black dress, carrying a big black umbrella or wearing a flowy wide brim hat and oversize sunglasses. Polished black shoes are often the norm too.

Nampaknya para designer dunia sedang ingin bernostalgia ke jaman 80-an sekaligus 90-an, karena untuk spring/summer 2009 ini gempita shoulder pads akan muncul kembali dalam rotasi trend fashion. Sebagian dari Anda mungkin akan berteriak tidak percaya mengingat shoulder pads merupakan salah satu ’dosa besar’ trend fashion di jaman 80-an dan 90-an. Meskipun sebenarnya tanpa Anda sadari, toh blazer Anda mungkin masih ‘mengandung’ shoulder pads di dalamnya. Lacoste Pink Collection

Coinciding with the Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Lacoste launched the Pink Croc collection this October to benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. 10% of the proceeds from the Pink collection sale will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Lacoste and Vogue magazine hosted the Pink Croc launch party at Lacoste’s Fifth Avenue store in New York a couple of days ago. The store was mainly decorated with pink ribbons, one huge pink ribbon inside the main window display and mannequins wearing Lacoste’s pink croco polos with pink tulle skirts. The launching party was filled with pink cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and delightful beats by DJ Cassidy! Goodies Under IDR 100K : Bodycology Body Cream

I have seen Bodycology brand a few times in some supermarket but I never paid attention because I thought it’s just another Bath & Body Works wannabe. Until yesterday I was picking up some toilettries at Sogo Food Hall (is the entire supermarket called Food Hall or just the food section? I’m always confused). I checked out a few brands including Bodycology and found myself pleasantly surprised. It is a Bath & Body Works wannabe but with half the price and the same quality!

Setelah Prada memprakarsai ide gradasi untuk koleksi tas maupun sepatu pada koleksi tahun lalu, untuk spring/summer 2009 ini giliran Burberry yang bereksperimen dengan gradasi warna. Sedikit berbeda dengan Prada, gradasi warna yang ditampilkan Burberry cenderung lebih kontras. Jadi jangan kaget apabila mendapati trench coat warna khaki khas Burberry namun berhiaskan gradasi warna coklat muda. Pada beberapa koleksinya, efek gradasi yang ditampilkan oleh Burberry ini memang sekilas terlihat seperti baru saja terendam banjir atau bahkan tercelup lumpur. Sensasi tersebut pun semakin diperkuat dengan tampilan para model di runway spring/summer 2009 Burberry yang mengenakan topi ala pemulung yang biasa kita temukan di pinggir-pinggir jalan ibukota menjelang hari lebaran. Function Vs. Fashion

I work in a textile manufacturing company and stationed at mills site where employees have to wear uniform everyday. Unfortunately, our uniform is totally out of style. I’m waiting for the day that the management hires a fashion designer to make-over its uniform since we, the employee and the company, are a big part of the fashion industry, we deserve to have an eye catching uniform.

Aside from its ability to reduce social gap among employees, uniform also serves to project company’s image. In some cases, uniform can be useful to help with the day to day operations. They call it workwear, mostly worn by outdoor workers. Workwear has additional function for safety, such as water proof, water repellent, anti stain, anti fire that is still ‘breathable’ at the same time. This kind of fabric, we call it high performance fabric, it requires several conditions. Hence,it will cost more than the normal one but then again safety and comfort are certainly the right reasons to spend money on.
