Crop It Out

Hanzky in Fashion Splash — May 18th, 2006 at 12:39 pm

I recently have this rather unhealthy addiction to cropped pants/capri/bermuda.. whatever they call them, as well as to gauchos/culottes. They are so figure flattering, definitely make my legs look thinner, hey if my legs can’t be thin at least i can try to make them look thinner..:p. These kind of pants are perfect for summer, you can dress them up with heels and dressy top, or dress them down with flat and plain cotton top. Here are the latest addition to my wardrobe:

from H&M

The blue one is from Charlotte Russe (the first bright color I own) and the other one is by Emphasis. The pictures certainly don’t do them justice..:p

Wearing cropped pants can be tricky for girls with petite figure as it can make them look even shorter, but it can be solved by wearing shoes with at least a little bit of heels, and just make sure that the color of the top and the pants blend nicely, that way it doesn’t look like it breaks your body.

Here are a few cropped pants that I like , but they are way too pricey, I couldn’t find the one that are lowly priced..but I’m sure your local malls have them.

Theory $200

Miss Sixty Theirry smart trousers $89
Ellie Tahari Lucille $178

Twenty one Mens

Hanzky in Industry News, Men's Fashion — May 16th, 2006 at 4:41 pm

Forever 21 launched its mens line earlier this month. It’s not available in every store though, only in the ones that are labelled XXI. The products range from sweatshirt ($27.80) to casual shirt like the western style shirt that’s pictured below ($19.80), regular cotton t-shirt ($12.80), shorts ($24.80) and even the formal pieces like tuxedo ($19.80), tailored vest ($29.80) and formal blazer ($79.80). The price is actually the same with the women’s line.

The stuff they have on the website actually don’t look bad, but I’m not sure if the image and the branding that forever 21 carries will easily appeal to the male shoppers since everybody has associated forever 21 with girly clothes and even the name sounds girly. I think they should just use a new name for their men’s line..but what do i know.. maybe with the right store design and the right new brand awareness development they will actually succeed on that, just like they did with the women’s line.

where do you buy your jewelry? I usually buy them …

Hanzky in Accessories — May 16th, 2006 at 12:40 pm

where do you buy your jewelry? I usually buy them at forever 21, hehe or the chinese trading stores..the jewelry there are cheap, usually priced around 2 or 3 bucks..but the thing is they don’t last. well i didn’t expect them to last forever but i now think jewelry should last a long time. we don’t wear them everyday and when we do wear them it’s only for a few hours. they don’t have to go through the abuse process of washing and drying machines that clothes do anyway, so of course it’s only normal if one expects them to last beyond one or two seasons. since the jewelry i used to buy broke easily, and i’m tired seeing my money goes straight to the trash can yet again. i’m searching for a good quality jewelry that comes at a decent price with a hope that it would hold up better. that’s why i bought a few last weekend, some from 1928, nine west and charles klein, the retail price for them is around $15 and up but of course i got them on sale for $4.99 at burlington..;)

i got this wide woven leather belt too from banana republic. it matches my biasia bag, haha..but i won’t wear them together though..:p. i have always been attracted to belt eventhough i don’t really wear them, that’s weird. most of my belts come from banana republic..they have the kind of belts i like, i usually just wait till they go on sale to buy since the price can be really low, the most i paid is $10. that’s not bad considering the original price is around $40.

friday steal..=)

Hanzky in Handbags — May 15th, 2006 at 11:50 am

i paid a visit to my favorite thrift store today, it’s located in an upscale area, so they have pretty nice stuff there. they have one special rack for all kinds of high-end designer items, from st. johns to missoni to chanel, i saw a few pair of kate spade, prada, miumiu and ferragamo, but the style is mostly for older women though. Anyway, i found two things i like. one is this dressy bakers stilleto, very pretty and girly and it’s new too, never been worn since the sticker tag is still attached and it was only for $5, this would normally sells around $30 at the mall. The other one i found is a white leather clutch, it has a bit of a snake skin vibe in the leather and it has a chain strap too to wear it on the shoulder. This too only for $5 and they even gave me 20% discount since it was mother’s day weekend..so the total was merely $8 something…me and my wallet walked out feeling happy…=))

- LV ad. gisele with the monogram denim baggy gm. i like the blue neo speedy from that line but it’s just way overpriced, the way i see it, a bag priced above $1000 and not made out of leather cannot be justified in anyway.

- burberry ad.gemma ward.preeetyy.

she is wearing this gold chain bracelet with toggle. i don’t know if it’s the same thing or not but you can get the cc skye one for $160 from shopintuition.com (see picture). i swear i also saw something similar at target for less than $10, i wish i took picture!

- Mango ad, wow mango is everywhere now. ternyata udah ada di surabaya, bandung bahkan medan.

- kate spade ad, opening in may in plaza indonesia. get your credit card ready girls!!. i like kate spade, but i do think they are overpriced (come to think of it, everything is overpriced to me). they tend to go on sale too, and we can get the past season ones at discounted store like last call neiman marcus, nordstrom rack or off fifth avenue. i’ve never paid retail price for kate spade.

- chanel eyewear ad. selma blair. blah. not that i don’t like selma blair, but i just don’t think she and chanel go hand in hand.

- jimmy choo ad, nichole richie with the ramona bag. whaat jimmy choo is in plaza senayan now?.

- coccinelle ad. i think they have pretty bags, more or less like francesco biasia, too bad we don’t have coccinelle here.

- isi lemari. anastasia, pemilik butik. but they didn’t write down the name of the boutique. i wonder what that is?

- gucci eyewear ad. doutzen kroes with the sunglasses that i so badly want!!

- the fashion editorial pages are fun.

- liputan mode. antara los angeles dan new york. “berdandan ala paris hilton hari ini di LA, berdandan ala wanita sophisticated di new york esok harinya”. dududu, please dong, who wants to dress like paris hilton anyway??

- hot (bagian foto2 di belakang). oh no, itu personilnya ratu sebenernya cantik cantik tapi kenapa dandanannya ala harajuku girls begitu?. ada ina thomas, one word come to mind: chic. i think she always manages to look effortlessly chic in every occasion, the hair is not overdone and not too much make up either. femmy permatasari wearing a glittery gold wrap top with a soft gold (or maybe an off white) camisole underneath, gold pants (bahannya kaya bahan kain songket gitu), gold bag, gold necklace, gold bracelet, gold earrings, gold rings and gold *gasp* hair. didn’t she look in the mirror when she gets ready? she takes the gold trend too literally.

- love the yellow polo shirt on the last page. anyone know who it’s by? it’s only said it’s from Le Privee Boutique.

my new baby

Hanzky in Handbags — May 10th, 2006 at 4:13 pm

yayy, finally..=). the francesco biasia aphrodisiac tote. I fell in love with this bag instantly when i first saw it at nordstrom, at first i liked the black one but this cinnamon color grew on me. i love the woven leather, it’s so soft and buttery, it’s big too..i can put my whole crap in it, it also has the removable interior puch with zip closure that i can use as a huge make up bag for travelling. before i found this bag, i’ve always wanted the woven bottega veneta hobo bag, but that one is just out of the range, so this one will do for now..hehe. Btw, i got it as my early birthday and mother day present from d, i actually wanted it on my birthday but when we went to nordstrom that day, it was the only one left..so of course i wouldn’t want to risk it and just decided to take it home..=)
