target go international part 3 has launched yesterday. this time, target brought in paul and joe, the french fashion label. i haven’t seen the collection at the store, but looking from the website, i think they are pretty dissapointing, i still like tara jarmon collection better..hopefully the next shipment will have more interesting designs. here are a few items that are okay in my book..:p..i actually like the ruffle jacket but too bad it’s leather. don’t know why, i’m just not into leather jackets.

what’s vanity sizing?

we all know that clothing size is not identical from one brand to another. sometimes we would fit into a small size on brand X but then struggling to fit into a medium on brand Y. and that’s normal, because different manufacturers/brands have different sizing standard based on their target market. you cannot expect size XS in Forever 21 and Ann Taylor would be the same because the consumer profile is not the same.

but did you know there’s a practice called vanity sizing? It’s when the manufacturer place a smaller size label on a larger size garment and create an even smaller size for those who are sized out (or create the petite line). they want the customer to feel better about his/her body and hence, shop more!!.

also the average measurement of size 4 today is not the same compared to 10 years ago. people are getting bigger therefore the manufacturers are resizing the clothes so that the numbers appear smaller. there wasn’t a size 0 20 years ago but now there’s even a 00.

usually the more expensive the brands the more your size will go down and the more they offer smaller sizes. you don’t find size 00 jeans (equivalent to 23 european size) at H&M but you surely can get one from dolce & gabanna.

so don’t be too excited next time you go down a size when you’re trying on new clothes at the mall. be sure to step on the scale as soon as you get home to confirm that you are indeed shedding off a few pounds..=).

Twenty one Mens

Forever 21 launched its mens line earlier this month. It’s not available in every store though, only in the ones that are labelled XXI. The products range from sweatshirt ($27.80) to casual shirt like the western style shirt that’s pictured below ($19.80), regular cotton t-shirt ($12.80), shorts ($24.80) and even the formal pieces like tuxedo ($19.80), tailored vest ($29.80) and formal blazer ($79.80). The price is actually the same with the women’s line.

The stuff they have on the website actually don’t look bad, but I’m not sure if the image and the branding that forever 21 carries will easily appeal to the male shoppers since everybody has associated forever 21 with girly clothes and even the name sounds girly. I think they should just use a new name for their men’s line..but what do i know.. maybe with the right store design and the right new brand awareness development they will actually succeed on that, just like they did with the women’s line.

it’s may 1, that means the tara jarmon (paris based designer) collection should be on the shelves at target right now as the second of four collections from target Go International, limited-edition designer series. The first one was Luella Bartley (london designer), I didn’t find anything I like from that collection..but hopefully I can get something from this one since the style suits me better. Here’s a few that I like from the website, i have to see them in person before I decide to get any of these.

well..i’m not gonna say that st. louis is a shopping mecca…cause it’s obviously not even close…malah di sini cenderung kurang banyak pilihan..(terutama cheap and chic store..:p)..makanya kalo disini belanja ya paling forever 21 lagi forever 21 lagii…hehehe..kayanya kita ada either 4 or 5 foverer 21 stores in the city deh. tapi akhir2 ini lumayan deh banyak toko toko baru yang buka, ada urban outtiftters , i went there at the grand opening..nggak begitu besar sih tokonya..tapi lumayan lah..barang2nya lagi bagus2…i love their gauchos collection…bags and shoes serta kalung2 nya juga bagus2 sama bolero nya apalagi..omg kayanya pingin di beli semua deh, hehehe…tapi sayang harganya masih kemahalan….:p..and that’s remind me why i don’t like the store in the first place..hehe…i don’t mean to sound like a cheap skate ya…but you just have to know mana yang quality nya memang bagus thus worth to spend the extra money dan mana yang sebenernya cuma barang murah, made in sweat shop tapi di mark up besar besaran dengan branding dan packaging yang menarik.

oh iya ada cerita menarik dari urban outfitters sih sebenernya karena ternyata banyak yang nggak suka sama toko ini sampe bikin gerakan boycott. Jadi ceritanya President of the Board of Director nya itu, si Richard Hayne is a major contributor to the republican and right-wing senator rick santorum, jadi a small part of each dollar we spend ends up in the republican campaign, dan nyebelinnya agenda politik nya itu juga di salurkan lewat barang barang yang di jual di situ. contohnya nih t-shirt yang ada tulisannya..”VOTING IS FOR OLD PEOPLE”…memang sih sepertinya t-shirt2 kaya gitu kan cuma untuk lucu lucuan aja..but a lot of people believe that there’s a message that he’s trying to send..untuk mendiscourage anak2 muda nge vote..karena yang muda2 itu lah yang mensupport democrat party….how lame!!..padahal media2 amerika lainnya amat sangat men encourage anak anak muda to Rock The Vote!!…ini malah sebaliknya…oh well..

by the way..anthropologie and free people are also owned by the same company..uh oh..what a fashionista gonna do?..huehe…

anyway..selain ada urban outfitters, H&M juga mau di buka this fall in the west county mall..YAYY..of all the cities in the midwest they pick st. louis, how awesome is that..??…that sure is an exciting news for the st. louis shoppers. Toko2 baru lainnya juga banyak sih aside from clothing such as Crate and Barrel, Bombay Kids, PF Chang, etc. Dan mayor st. louis nih lagi nge lobby IKEA untuk buka di sini….which i don’t think will succeed…kayanya nggak bakal deh IKEA buka di sini, not anytime soon.

Jessica Simpson to launch clothing brand

Jessica Simpson is preparing to roll out her own clothing lines, with the clothes timed to hit U.S. stores when her new movie hits the theaters. The clothes, while inspired by Simpson’s personal style, are the work of a top designer for Tarrant Apparel Group, with Simpson giving final approval.

Tarrant plans to release two lines of Simpson gear this year. JS by Jessica Simpson, with $49 jeans and a variety of tops, is exclusively for the Fashion Bug chain while the Princy line, using Simpson’s nickname, will be somewhat pricier and aimed at specialty and department stores.

Tarrant plans to launch the clothing lines in August.
