I’m a die-hard Lost fan. I don’t care if some people think the story is getting more and more confusing and far-fetched. I am gonna keep watching until I find out who Jacob is and how those Oceanic Six managed to get off the island!
Anyway, one of my favorite gal character from the show is Evangeline Lilly. She is a stunner with her tanned complexion, beachy hair and amazing figure. I totally have a girl crush on her and she was also the reason I used to wear bronzers everyday for a few months - until I moved on to my next obsession.
So I came across this photo of hers from this year’s Golden Globe red carpet and I am so loving this look! She managed to spark up the safe bronze eyes-meet-peachy-cheeks with a touch of emerald green liner on the bottom lash lines that matches her earrings and dress. Oh and those dazzlingly shimmery lips? Gorgeous!
There are many products you can use to achieve this look of course, but on top of my head are : MAC Amber Lights eyeshadow, Technakohl liner in Jade Way, Stila Convertible Color in Petunia and Tarte lipgloss in Elle & Emmet.
I am so doing this tomorrow!

Don’t be fooled with the title, it’s nothing about Ugly Betty or Betty La Fea. I found this Betty ad on the Metro news that I religiously read on my morning commute. Betty is a hair color product especially designed to color the hair around your intimate area. Suprisingly enough one of my coworker got a sample of BROWN Betty and I got a quick glimpse of it. Being one who has never contributed to any beauty stuff on FD, I think Betty is something really fun to share with every girls =)

Ever since I stumbled upon FD and discovered makeup, makeup books are a must on my list. Why? Because for a bencong wannabe like me, buying makeup sure is fun, but applying it can be a challenge on its own. This is where these books came handy. Asian Faces (by Taylor Chang-Babaian, forwarded by Yoko Ono) first attracts me coz it was made especially for Asian women and their characteristics. It might seem like a pretty basic book for advanced, suhu bencong and the likes, but it’s a pretty darn good book for a novice bencong like myself. This book teaches you how to choose the right color of foundation, a face chart (so you’ll know exactly where to put what, with a real human as the model to illustrate the technique, thank you!), how to highlight and contour, makeup brushes, and of course (the eye candy) the many wearable daytime and nighttime looks that you can copy.
Another thing worth mentioning from this book is the cool little tips it provides. Here are some to share with you:

I love Madonna. Her songs are infinitely in my laptop iTunes and in my old 2nd generation iPod. I forever striving to get her soft wavy look (never achieve that). I constantly bug my friends all the time that if they ever hear about Madonna concert tickets on sale, they must let me know by text, email and phone call. I literally ran to the dance floor in my high heels (and almost made my best friend spilled her drink on her new dress) the split second I hear the intro to Like A Prayer. I might not love everything about her, but I LOVE her nonetheless.
Madonna graced the cover of the American Elle and Vanity Fair in April, celebrating her new upcoming album Hard Candy which will be released in the United States on April 28th 2008. Both magazines with Madonna on the cover, interestingly enough, are in their “Green” issue.
What do you remember of Madonna? The conical bra designed by Jean Paul Gaultier that she wore in her Blond Ambition tour in 1990? The “grunge” Madonna in her earliest years? The controversial book titled “S E X” that she wrote? The “Zen” Madonna in her Ray of Light video clips? Or the ménage-a-trois kiss she shared with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera during MTV Video Music Awards in 2003, that is still often dubbed as publicity stunt in the media.
At the an age nearing half a century, Madonna hasn’t putting a brake on reinventing-herself wheel. Always has been the one who is not afraid to go against the stream, she has now turned the table from being the target of fashion police to the becoming the idol from woman in their 20’s (for her currently-impeccable style) to the woman in 50’s (for her killer figure).
There is nothing stereotypical look of the woman who will be celebrating her 50th year on August 16th this year. She has gone from “trashy” look to “First Lady” look (think Evita movie). From elegant look (with her brunette-hair era) to “all-American look”, it’s no surprise if there is a love-and-hate relationship between you and her edgy looks. I am never too crazy about her choice of “trasy” look, and some of the too-techno-esque songs. But she’s back, with something that not every 50-year-old can pull off, yet she proves that age means nothing but a number (well, who can blame the millionaire who can do 5-hours Yoga session every day and afford full-time nutritionist?).
If I could “build” my own Madonna, I would combine her Die Another Day look with Like A Prayer album. That, would be my perfect Madonna, just because I thought her softer-yet-edgy look in the movie would go well with the sultry, mellower songs in the 1989 album. And oh, I think she would be a perfect spokesperson for MAC Viva Glam (please take note, even if the Madonna’s Viva Glam would include a blue lipstick, I’d buy it, just for the sake of it).
In any case, if you’re one of her fans, don’t forget to check the magazines (for instance, Vanity Fair has a lot of uber-gorgeous shoots. I’m guessing the famous Gaultier corset was somewhat channeled in many of the pictures), her new album Hard Candy, and of course, her stunning outfits in the tabloids, because Madonna is still, and will always be, herself: no-substitute. And she’s definitely here to stay.

Do you want to be like The Innocent with soft, slightly shimmery makeup like a woman in a beautiful oil pantings? Or maybe your inner strength and determination is calling you to be The Heroine with brows brushed upward and strongly lined lips? How about The Anarchist who is not afraid of unusual ways of applying eyeshadows?
There are thousands of makeup books out there, but this one is by far the most searched and used referrence book not only by professionals in the field, but also by novices like us.
Late Kevyn Aucoin (died on 2002 at age 40) was one of the most celebrated makeup artists who did countless faces of celebrities. He believes that—please bear this in your mind when doubting on whether bright red lips is too much or blue eyes make you look like a “korban KDRT”— there are no rules when it comes to makeup. “Knowledgeable” people seem to pop up everywhere and make comments like your makeup is not “normal” and “acceptable”, or you don’t look “beautiful” just because you wear orange lips. To Kevyn, future belongs to those with open minds and open hearts, who can appreciate beauty in all its forms.
This book is about ideas and possiblity of looks, ranging from the most natural to the drag queens, from businesswoman to the exotic woman with petroleum-jellied eyes. Let me be honest, tho, that—speaking from experience—the latest one is only for photography purpose.
This is a great book for “Bencong in The Making”, “Bencong Wannabe”, “Bencong dalam Rencana” selain tentu saja, “Suhu Bencong”. Before transforming your face to what you want to be today, Kevyn guides you little by little in understanding basics of faces making, starting with foundation, shading and highlighting, brow shaping, eye makeup styles, eyeliner, and different kinds of lip colors. The basics really help us in taking the next steps: making the looks, may it be glamorous, dramatic, colorful, or sensual (which he uses a guy as his model).
Then he uses everyday people, people he runs in to in restaurant or other public places, as his models and brings out the best in them. In the last chapter, we can see his stunning and magnificent work of icons on celebrities’ faces.
Two-faced is nothing. We want to be 1000-faced.

Hanzky in Contest — April 3rd, 2008
This is it ladies, the new FD tagline. If you’re wondering who won of the tagline contest…unfortunately, there’s no winner. We promise that this would be the only contest when no winner is chosen..:). Thank you for everyone who participated. Even though we didn’t pick one particular submission, all of your entries helped us tremendously in sorting and shaping what we envision for our tagline. During the early stage of Fashionese Daily, we didn’t think about any of these, we just wanted to set loose and see how things flow. Right now, we have a vision and mission and therefore this tagline is an integrated part of this aspect.
We decided not to go with the word fashion, because the word fashion is already embedded in the domain name. We used the word “style” and “beauty” to the mix because they represent the true sense of this community. These are the things that we’d like to emphasize more in the long run.
The word “with attitude” comes with a reason. It simply means that our attitude is what set us apart from other Fashion/Lifestyle portal or magazine. First of all, we do not claim to be experts when it comes to style and beauty. We believe that there’s no right or wrong when it comes to style. It’s all personal preference and we don’t intend to dictate you what to wear, what products to use, but we are very passionate about these two things and we wanted to share our findings and our experiences here. Second of all, we (and the rest of the girls in our forum) give a realistic approach to fashion and beauty. Most of the stuff shown is here belong to ours, not stuff that are borrowed from boutiques and we’ve tried the products ourselves so we can give you honest reviews, not just rewriting whatever the products claimed to be. Our informal style of writing (with the occasional grammatical error..:p) is part of the attitude that makes us “us”. We also want to stay true to ourselves, not afraid to have an opinion and will never compromise our integrity to make certain people happy. It’s a never-ending quest, but it’s certainly one we’re happy to take on..:)
So once again, thank you for participating, hope you like the new tagline, and the new ribbon-style tagline on the header, courtesy of Lusita Bonita…=))

I was surprised when I received a copy of VOGUE April edition the other day. Look who is on the cover? a male, an African American male to be exact, and not a Hollywood movie star, but a basketball player, none other than LeBron James. He made history as the first African American man who graced the cover in the magazine’s 116-year history. He is also becoming the third man (joining Richard Gere and George Clooney), and the fourth African American ever appeared on the cover.
This edition is the Shape issue, so it’s only fitting that James is on the cover with Gisele, who is dating Tom Brody, New York Patriots star quarterback, the sports connection is definitely there. Gisele was wearing a simple Calvin Klein dress and the cover was shot by Annie Leibovitz.
I like the cover simply because I finally see someone other than Keira Knightly, Renee Zellwegger and other celebrities on the cover. But little did I know that this cover has stirred up some controversy and was even discussed in major newspapers like USA Today, Chicago Tribune, etc. Apparently, some people found it offensive that James is portrayed like he was angry, yelling and being aggressive by grabbing Gisele’s tiny waist. They feel that VOGUE had racial intentions and wanted to throw the stereotypes that people always associate with an African American male.
I really didn’t see it that way when I first looked at it, and I still don’t understand what the fuss is all about. LeBron is a basketball player, he is a beast on the court and that’s how he looks like when the game is on, he is just showing his emotion After all, this is a Shape issue, so I don’t expect him to be donning a suit looking all flamboyant like in a typical GQ cover.
Do you think the cover is offensive?
