Friday Fragrance: Going for the Scent of Gwyneth Paltrow
Is there such thing as the little black dress of fragrance? When it comes to fragrance, I think there’s no one product that suits all. Whereas for a little black dress, one with a simple silhouette could probably fit all body type because of the dark black hue that looks good on just about everyone. Fragrance, in my opinion, is a much more personal preference. But as far as little black dress of fragrance goes, BOSS Nuit Pour Femme kind of nailed it.
My special bottle engraved with my name
The new women’s fragrance from Hugo Boss takes the concept of the staple little black dress that every woman must have as the inspiration as well as the feel of confidence that it gives to the wearer. The bottle of the fragrance embodies every little bit of that characteristic – black in colour, sleek and heavy bottle with a just a strip of gold to give the power to the bottle. The square shape is simple yet it’s that simplicity in little black dress that makes us fall in love with it, isn’t it? Standing tall among my other bottle of fragrances, this one kind of stands out easily among the others.
What about the scent? It’s a fruity floral scent that will cater to most women. It’s neither too fruity nor too floral. Most importantly, it’s not too intense nor too soft. A feminine scent with a little bit of that sensual feel.
A fruity floral fragrance usually opens up really vibrantly, which is what I’m not too fond of. But this one, opens up with fresh notes of aldehydes and peach – fresh, which gives a strong impression, but not too loud. The heart notes dominated by flowers such as white flowers, jasmine and violet, all embodying a sense of femininity, whereas the base is crystalline moss and creamy sandalwood. The later is what I love the most about this fragrance, since it’s closing up the whole orchestra of notes with a creamy end.
If you need a fail-proof fragrance that you could dress up or down, then this is the one to go. While you’re at it, maybe it will give you the confidence that you’re looking as gorgeous as Gwyneth Paltrow in the ad. Dream on, dreamers!
