On with the September issue!

As you already know, September is the most important month for fashion magazine publications. Therefore, the big players race to present the thickest, most interesting issue, with the most appealing cover faces (while we readers go broke buying everything).

We have seen that Vogue decided to go with Kate Moss for their September cover girl, at the same time giving them opportunity to feature the exclusive photos of Kate’s wedding. But W Magazine’s choice to pick Kristen Stewart for their September fashion issue is worthy of our attention, too.

Now, I have to admit, I usually do not love Kristen Stewart as an actress. I also do not understand why Kristen was chosen to be the face of a fashion issue. However, Kristen usually does great in photo shoots and her shot for W Magazine’s September cover is, I say, one of her best so far.

Styled by Edward Enninful and photographed by Mert & Marcus, Kristen channels the va-va-voom aura of the ‘60s with big hair, sultry eyes, prominent brows, and pale lips. Very Brigitte Bardot. Although, at some point, I also can’t help seeing bits of young Brooke Shield, or some even say, Lindsay Lohan.

For the cover, Kristen is wrapped up in Max Mara mohair and wool sweater. The outerwear theme continues in her editorial shots inside, where she sports Junya Watanabe leather motorcycle jacket and Theory’s Scotia angora polyamide sweater, and little else.

What do you think of it? And do you already have a favorite September issue cover?

    never like kristen stewart.
sure she is young and beautiful but that’s just it.
    not a fan.
IMO, anyone even amy winehouse (no offense) could easily pull-off this look. :)

I wonder if it’s make up or photoshop (or both!) that make her look almost unrecognizable here. I love the concept but in some of the photos, her eyes look rather “dead”. She needs a “smize” course with Tyra soon! :D

    Btw great article, Leija! ;)

  3. eve says:

OMG, never know Kristen Stewart can be this sophisticated! Love the cover :)

  4. DesZeLL says:

Agree with Affi, her eyes lacking in emotion. I could not get the feel of these pictures at all.

  5. Leija says:

    Makasih Mbak Affi!

I guess Kristen needs to work it more ;) She could be so attractive as a model, though, at least I won’t get to see her eat her lips… Love the photo concept!

  6. mrsVi says:

amezeballz!! i never saw her potential. this is just awesomeee

  7. Hanzky says:

Whoa…I couldn’t recognize her at all ..but I’m also celebrity challenged. But she looks gorgeous there, very classic Hollywood. Welcome on board Leija, looking forward to read more of your writing :)

  8. suka konsepnya! sampai2 ga ngeh kalo tatapan matanya kurang ekspresif

  9. MeitriaDewi says:

You’re right! She does have resemblance with Lindsay Lohan in these pics! The only photo that shows herself is the third photo. I think it’s an irony if u appear completely unrecognizable in portraits, coz that just makes u a mannequin..What I know is, portraits supposed to show the person as honest as possible..IMO.

Waaaaahhhh cakep banget disini!! Never thought of her as a Beauty until I see these. My fave would be the 1st & 4th pics with grey & green eyes, lovely!!

  11. snow says:

aku suka loh kristen stewart.. tp kenapa ga suka foto-foto yg di W ini yah?

  12. lady says:

not a fan of her, too much photoshop, imo…….. malah lebih perhatiin to die for hollywood’s new leading men, sapa ya????

  13. Nico says:

Styling-wise, I adore the old Hollywood vibe emanating from the fashion spread–a bit Marylin Monroe-esque, if I may. But, yes, Kristen Stewart doesn’t have strong enough personality to become the cover of this Fashion Issue (the Photoshopping helps, though!).

Talk about September issues’ covers, my favorite is Vogue’s, of course! Kate Moss and her wedding? Splendid.
