Nicki Minaj and Ricky Martin have been named as the next face for MAC Viva Glam campaign for 2012. MAC Viva Glam is an AIDS campaign by the cosmetic brand, where they launch several lip products every couple of years and every cent from their selling price goes straight to the MAC AIDS Fund. MAC Viva Glam’s campaign has always been unique. The latest one you would see would be the one with Lady Gaga where she wore a very nude lipstick and looked very demure somehow. I can see why MAC would pick Ricky Martin, but as for Nicki Minaj, I’m not really sure. I can see that she has a unique style, maybe it’s why they’ve picked her.
The campaign ad will be shot by David LaChapelle in Miami and will be revealed in fashion, beauty and lifestyle publications in February 2012 along with the shade of the lipstick and lipgloss. I would expect a shade of pink since her Nicki’s MAC Pink Friday sold out quite fast and I see her quite often with pink lipstick.
Reportedly, MAC AIDS Fund has raised $224 million since it first started in 1994 where every cent will go to the AIDS-related research and charities.
Some big names who have contributed to the success of MAC Viva Glam campaign were Cyndi Lauper, Naomi Campbell, Missy Elliott, Mary J. Blige, Christina Aguilera and Fergie.

I’m guessing MAC chose Nicki Minaj and Ricjy Martin to reach out the their Latin American market. Regardless, it’s always interesting to try and guess who MAC chooses as their next Viva Glam spokesperson because you can be sure that she/he won’t be boring and predictable
