The fashion week may define the trend of the season, but it is in high street label that we rest our fate to acquire the latest trend that we’ve seen on the runway. It’s not like all of us have the unlimited fund to get everything straight off the runway, right? The second day of the Plaza Indonesia Fashion Week showed collection from our favourite high street label Mango and Zara Spring/Summer 2011 collection.
For this season collection, Mango collection titled Modernist Resort displayed clean and modernist look focusing on simple lines and minimalist silhouettes that mix bright colours and graphical contrast, as well as neutral palette such as sand, brown and white. They also worked with Zuhair Murad, a Lebanon born designer, very well known in the Middle East and Gulf Region, and has been showing his work in the runway of Paris and Milan.
Zara stay true to their street fashion look in their basic collection with a more casual approach. Whereas the Women Collection showed a sophisticated and classic look with a bit of twist. Lastly, the TRF gave a treat to the bright and fresh colours.
Here are some of the looks that I love from the runway of the high street brand show.
The best colour combination

Navy with green at Mango and orange with fuchsia at Zara. Two colour combination that I would have never thought of myself. They both don’t really go on the same page but when mixed together, they’re just perfect and create a statement.
Colour blocking effect

If you can’t decide what colour you like the best, you can have it all at once! Zara turned what otherwise a plain dress into something stronger by combining white and fuchsia. Or let your accessories make the statement for you, such as this mix of neon colours shoes from Zara or the soft brown and red leather combination bag from Mango.
Treatment for Print

The idea is if you already use a piece with pattern, then mix it with solid colours that would be able to bring out the beauty of the pattern and at the same time balance out the pattern and making it not too over the top. Both looks are from Mango.
A strip of line

At Zara, what I found is the continuity of the black strip on a couple of the pieces. Most striking pieces are this dress and pants. Treat these line with care though, I found that this huge strips on the side of pants will make your thighs look somewhat bigger.
Suited up!

Think the opposite. Instead of using black or white as your suit, what about pairing these colourful jackets that may not be in your “safe colour zone”. Love these Zara looks of sand brown and fuchsia that make these jacket different from what I’m used to see.
So tell me, which one is your favorite look?

love the fuschia blazer!! definitely will grab it once pop up in zara store
tanya nih, Zara – Mango termasuk high street fashion? bukannya high street fashion sekelas: Karen Millen, Maxstudio, atau Marc by Marc Jacobs ya?
Iam not sure about Zara collection this season, they look forward to back in little street fashion design, but in quite simply city way, and for me its not the way it works. as high end fashion line, Zara have their own signature, so,.. just leave the street line for people who deserved it. i just can’t drink my coffee together with galliano.
