Really, cheongsams that I’m going to talk about are such breathtaking masterpieces. Just like our nation’s beloved kebaya, cheongsam has developed into more creative style and design. In conjunction with Hotel Mulia’s appreciation party to its loyal guests and the approaching Chinese New Year, fashion shows were held showcasing various cheongsam including those by Sebastian Gunawan.
Sebastian Gunawan himself is a Chinese-descendant designer and he successfully brought basic cheongsam into many forms, details and shape in a collection titled “Chinois Express”. According to Seba (the designer’s nickname), the title was derived from the word chinois that means Chinese culture and influence. Classic shape cheongsam with modern details, modern shape with basic chinois fabrics, even the 50′s elegant silhouette cheongsam were among the collection. Which one is your favorite?
White lace cheongsam that looks romantic, silk-embroidered cheongsam in interesting motif, elegant cheongsam in unique cutting; they’re all pretty, aren’t they?
Being asked which cheongsam that were his favorite, Seba firstly mentioned these jade-color cheongsam.
Here are some of the sequin-detailed cheongsams. The right one in silver is also Seba’s favorite.
These cheongsam with sexy backs are examples how modern cutting is infused in the collection.
Above photos are the closer look of shoes, hand gloves and some other details.
In total, there were 45 cheongsam featured in “Chinois Express”.
