Having built her career in fashion for about 35 years, Yasra is well-known for her capability in creating traditional attire especially kebaya. Even though her collections are already available in several shopping mall such as Plaza Indonesia, Grand Indonesia and Plaza Senayan, this is her first experience joining Jakarta Fashion Week.

For this JFW 10/11, Yasra Studio presented the theme “Classic Emotion”. It is obvious kebaya and batik are part of classic Indonesian heritage that won’t fade through ages. “My inspiration is beautiful atmosphere of dusk in autumn,” Yasra said. That concept was well depicted in various colors that bring the mood of autumn dusk; such as brick red, maroon, gold, brown, nude and olive.

The show opened with numbers of satin tops paired with batik skirts. The tops were embellished with glimmering details around the collar bone. The cutting of the tops were mostly loose while the batik skirts were varied in A-line and pencil shaped. Then the attires slowly transformed into more and more formal ones as the runway was dominated with brocade kebaya like the top pictures of olive kebaya in brocade.

I think Yasra Studio really knows how to put pretty details on each of the creation without being too much. Take these pictures above as the example, the details on the arms and the bow on the back look perfect and match with the cutting.

It seems Yasra has a perception of red being the most glamorous color of all. Maroon kebaya on left photo is so gorgeous that it can be worn by a bride. While the long-sleeve kebaya on right has different accent but still keeps its elegance.
