Let’s just be honest, hair removal can be quite a painful experience even though different women have different threshold for pain. My sister, who gave birth to her daughter naturally without the help of epidural, claimed that she still shakes with fear everytime she’s about to get her monthly waxing. Yes, shaving can be a pain-free alternative, but we all know that the result isn’t quite the same, right?
Anyway, because some women can not avoid this procedure, here are some tips on how to minimize the pain for waxing:

- Don’t go prior to or during your menstruation because you’ll experience heightened sensitivity to pain.
- Eat or drink something that’s soothing and has a pain reducing ability such as ginger tea. A study in 2005 suggests that ginger could reduce pain and inflammation more effectively than non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (such as aspirin).
- Don’t wear body lotion, your legs will be slippery and the process will take longer (we all want to get out of the place as fast as we can, right?)
- Stick with your most trusted therapist. All girls have one. For some reason, in the hands of these waxing goddesses, the process that usually gets our face wet with tears becomes relatively pain free and comfortable. If you don’t have one, ask your friends for recommendation.
- Try to relax! Take deep and regular breaths during the process. If you’re tensed, your hair follicles will constrict and it’ll cause resistance.

Beauty is a challenge. Especially when it comes to look updated and stylish. Maybe for present era, hairless body is considered clean and most of all sexy. Doesn’t mean having fine hair is bad. But Yes!! we want to look sexy.
And I remember the 1st time I have a bikini line waxing. Hurt like hell *lebay*
But it was worthed all the clean and neat looking view down there, lol.
Thanks for your suggestions dear Affi.
I need them as I am addicted to this waxing stuff. It’s the excitement feeling that makes me want to do it again and again no matter how painful it is. Because the result is worth it.
Hahaha ternyata malah bisa ketagihan sama rasa sakitnya ya?
Well, still afraid doing that…
i am not familiar to go to spa or salon or i do not know where to go
Astrid, di forum kita banyak kok rekomendasi salon dan spa. Kl baca review temen2 mungkin jadi punya ide perginya ke mana..
Take some Motrin an hour before and you’ll be ok!
..Or Ponstan in my case
Sebenernya for me the pain itself is still bearable.
But the feeling that I voluntarily come to that place so they can slaughter myself yang bikin takut *lebay*
Iyah emang, antisipasinya itu yg bikin ngilu sebenernya. Kl udah dijalanin sih biasanya ok2 aja ya, unless therapistnya gak jago
Untuk area yang di ‘bawah’, kompres es batu sangat membantu mengurangi rasa sakit loh..
Satu lagi Fi, jangan wax pas lagi hamil! Gue pas hamil 9 bulan, bikini wax dan sampe mewek lho. Padahal dlm kondisi biasa, gak gitu-gitu amat. Kayaknya karena pas lagi hamil, kadar sensitivitas kulit lagi tinggi-tingginya ya.
Syita & Ira,
Great tips! Thank you!
Kalo pergi waxing emang yang harus dipersiapin mentalnya. Sama kayak mau ketemu Obs Gyn, perlu tapi bikin deg-degan. Padahal pas waxingnya sendiri gak gitu sakit
Iya bener mal. Apa mesti dihipnotis dulu ya biar nggak takut?
my key is to hold my breath deeply and close my eyes whenever my wax therapist starting the countdown… hihihi…
