When you dream, dream big.
Now, let me tell you about a big dream of mine. Ever since I was about 17 years old, when I was just a young and naive teenager, I’ve wanted to create my own makeup line. I’ve always had a thing with makeup and beauty products in general, probably from watching my mom doing her own makeup since I was little and thinking how glamorous it all looked to me. But the idea about creating a makeup brand came from an article I read in Seventeen magazine about the founders of Hard Candy and Urban Decay who started their brands from home when they were only in their 20′s. I thought to myself, hey, if they could do it, I could too!
Like I said, I was a naive young girl 
Anyway, the dream was forgotten for a few years when I was busy with other things. Until one point in my life, where I seemed to have lost my track and I started asking myself again: what is it really that I want to do? What are my dreams? My goals? And then, the makeup line thing reappeared.
That time, because I was older and a little bit more experienced, I started to really think about pursuing this dream. I went online to do some research, asked people , even approached someone and asked whether he wanted to fund this “crazy” idea (he said yes, but I’m pretty sure he didn’t have any idea the amount I was really asking for ). I wrote down the ideas I had for the line. What products I wanted to create, the names of the brand, how it’s going to be marketed, even down to the names of the shades! (Yeah, I was way ahead of myself :p) But then the more I tried to find a way to make my dream come true, the more I realized that I am far from ready to make it happen. I knew nothing about starting my own company and I didn’t even have any background in cosmetic or retail or any of the business related to this dream of mine.
So I wrapped it neatly and put the dream in a little box marked “For later”. I then searched for a job that is still related to my passion but one that is still realistic and within my scope of skill and experience. Which was how I landed a job in one of the biggest makeup brands in the world, MAC Cosmetics. But that’s another story for another time 
So why am I bringing it up now out of the blue? Because, even though I am now doing something which I completely love: writing about beauty, managing my own company, meeting and working with great people and other great things which I’m fortunate enough to experience, I never give up on that one dream.
I don’t know if I’ll ever make it a reality. Maybe I won’t. Maybe I will get a chance to do it and become successful. Or I take a shot at it and fail. It’s all in the future and no one knows what’s gonna happen. But one thing I do know is, I will always keep that special little box in my heart, just like I still keep that old Seventeen magazine which gave me the inspiration in the beginning. Because I believe that no matter how far I’ve run, no matter how many things I’ve achieved in life, I should still look back, from time to time, to remind myself what got me running in the first place.
