Indonesian Fashion Spot!

I believe you must have felt the excitement of the Cleo Fashion Awards 2009 held on Wednesday night, because not only we blog live from the front row but we kept feeding our Twitter followers with live updates complete with pictures.

Cleo Fashion Award was held to give appreciation to the best retail brands, chosen by Cleo magazine and it’s readers. During the event, Cleo also recognized Indonesia’s Best Young Talented Designer and Best Innovative Local Brand by giving the winner an award, chosen among 4 designers for each category. Each designer come with their own touch and innovation, hoping to give the fashion lover here in Indonesia a breath of fresh air.

The first designer to showcase their design is the softly spoken lady, Nina Nikicio with her preview of Spring 2010 collection. She is still loyal to her concept of designing pieces that is endless and can be worn for all season. The full lace dress and champagne tube gown captured our heart straight away. She is running for the Best Young Talented Young Designer along with Kleting, Raiki and Kiki Chan. The Milan graduate designer Kleting with her strong suit in pattern and cut, won this award and shake a little move during the end of her runway walk. She said that her design is all about inner peace which clearly reflected in the choice of colours of this collection.

Best Innovative Local Brand was awarded to Danjyo & Hiyoji which seriously rock the Fashion Promanade that night. Other designer which was running for this title are Petite Cupcakes and their yummy simple pieces, Majic that transforms simple fabric of rayon spandex and polyester to become more edgy and dark with a touch of print, and lastly Geulis which uses Indonesian traditional fabric and give a little dynamism and modern feel for urban lifestyle women.
