I don’t know if it’s just me who takes proportion too seriously or the combination of a wide sleeves coat with a bell bottom jeans really are not too flattering? I believe the navy Ferragamo capelet style worn by Natalie Portman here would look so much better with a pair of skinny jeans. Or maybe it’s the choice of washes? Would it be better if the denim is lighter in color?

Here in Fashionese Daily, we’re not too crazy about fashion rule but we do have preference that we think suits our body types. My own fashion rule, that I think suits my short and squat shape is to pair clothes that are in proportion of each other. I pair a voluminous skirt with a tighter top or wear legging with a loose top to balance it out. For me, it’s all about proportion.
What do you think ladies, is the outfit a do or a don’t?

sure, but its refreshing to see rules being broken (sometimes). in natalie’s case, i think wearing a skinny would be too obvious, nothing interesting. this way we notice her outfit more ^^. also i think she can pull it off because of her bodyshape (teeny tiny!).
a do if your shape looks like a model (above 178cm-long legs-very slim), a don’t if your body is just like ordinary people
If someone like Heidi Klum is wearing this then it’s a do but Natalie Portman will be loose in the outfit, sorry to say
It would be well matched outfit if she combines the coat with straight cut or bootleg jeans, the dark one is the best.
Disti: Kalo menurut gue dia malah jadi tenggelam gitu di outfitnya, mana lehernya juga nggak keliatan sama sekali. But in her defense, kalo indoor, mungkin coatnya dibuka and I’ve seen her picture wearing the underneath shirt and jeans. She looks good..:)
Yokekomik: Those long legs model can just wear anything and still look good..not fair..:D
Jenna: I think it’ll look better if we can see some part of the shoes too, right?
maybe because im not a fan of skinny jeans, so i actually like this ensemble on her.. if it was paired w/ skinny jeans, i think she may look top heavy..
Hanz, im also obsessed w/ proportion, because i have stubby legs, and if im not careful i can easily look pudgy (lemper berjalan!) if i wear something too loose…
i dont think Nat is that tall, but her slender legs/figure are key in pulling off the bell bottoms.. on me, it would look like a cirque de soleil costume
as a fashion-nista (as in always clueless) I have no qualms about Nat pairing a lose capelet and bell-bottoms. I just wonder about the length of her jeans. I have pairs of pants that touch the floor like that and it’s a bitch to keep the hem clean. But again, she might not do her own laundry, ya?
natalie portman can do no wrong in my eyes
i think it’s deliberate and i agree, makes the look more interesting. the white blouse breaks up the monotony of the color, i think maybe white is too stark, i think maybe a darker color would make it less contrasting…
Nat is chanelling her red riding hood…lol..I am itched with the white shirt underneath..the capelet and her pants can be forgiven…
she should hv been wearing a skinny jeans to balance her above outfit…
