On Thursday, September 10th, 2009, the first evening of New York Fashion Week Spring 2010, New York and 12 other cities around the world (where International editions of VOGUE are published) will be celebrating Fashion’s Night Out. In this special night, stores will be opened late (till 11 PM) with overflowing champagne and hors d’oeuvres, impromptu musical performances in several designer boutiques by famous DJs, musicians and models (The Misshapes at Versace boutique, model Coco Rocha will be spinning at DKNY!!, click here to learn more), free makeovers, free lessons (rumors said there will be some free dance lessons at Kate Spade and the Olsen twins will be teaching shoppers how to knit. Although some said, the twins will guest-bartend at Barneys and Bergdorf), unbelievable generous sweepstakes , contests and giveways will be distributed to the masses.

Fashion’s Night Out itself is a global initiative and special effort of VOGUE and its international editions to promote retails, restore consumer confidence and celebrate fashion in this time of recession.

In the US, American VOGUE teamed up with NYC & Company, the City of New York and the Council of Fashion Designers of America, to stimulate consumers and boosts the local industry of New York City, America’s fashion capital. “Let’s make shopping fun again!”, obviously their main goal is to lure people to go out and spend, simply encouraging them to SHOP till they drop!

Best of all, models, designers, celebrities and editors will mingle with the public to support this event. Anna Wintour is said to make a public appearance at  Macy’s Queens! I can’t imagine her coming to a public mall in Queens! I wonder how many people will be chasing her all the way to Queens and queuing in line just to meet her! I know I definitely would, if my time permits and hopefully I won’t be staying late at work that day! But I’m definitely jealous of those of you who live in Paris. The lucky one would get the chance to meet Carine Roitfeld and her fabulous Paris Voguette team ! And God knows I would definitely do anything for that rare opportunity =P
