Not too long ago Sephora — the heaven store for the make-up addicts from the US — opened up a store in Singapore, to be exact in Ngee Ann City mall in Orchard. I had the opportunity to check out the first store and I found it quite disappointing because it does not carry a lot of other products that the original stores in the US would. Back when I used to live in the US, visiting Sephora store would be my ritual almost every weekend. From just trying out the NARS lip lacquer or blush shades, new perfumery, a wide range of skin care products or even to try out the different feels of the brushes, i just had to visit it. Let alone, my old office in New York was located near the store and it was inevitable that I must walk by it every day!

So, when I found that Sephora is going to open a second store in new mall in Orchard, ION, I just had to visit and find out what are other products they are going to sell. The second store is said to be the largest Sephora store in Asia and only second in size to the biggest one in the world located in France’s Champs-Elysees. I had to admit, the second store carries a wider range of products than the first one, but still fell short of my expectations. One that is most disappointing was that I didn’t see NARS in the store! I was so hoping that they would stock the brand in the new store.

Nonetheless, I was happy to see two of my favorite brands appear in the new store, Burt’s Bees and Smashbox. I have been growing a dependency on Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer (S$12) and has to carry one on my purse everywhere I go. I’ve been trying to find the place to sell these products in Singapore and can only get it a very limited range so I still need to ask my friends from the US to send them. So I’m definitely glad that it’s here and it carries a whole range of products too. As for Smashbox? Do I need to say more? It’s a bless that now I can pick up one of their primers at a more accessible place.

Other brands include Crazylibellule And The Poppies (solid perfumes in the form of Crazy Sticks), Earth Organics Gardeners, Sakura Skin Care range, Principessa, Murad, Talika, Peter Thomas Roth, Ole Henriksen, Fekkai, Juice Beauty, Mario Badescu skin care, among many others.. and of course the products under the Sephora labels.

So, the next time you plan for a visit to Singapore, make sure to check out the new Sephora store at ION Orchard. At 15,000 square foot vicinity, it’s good enough reason to check out what’s the news of the town is all about.
