Traditionally Mary Janes are a variety of shoe worn mainly by young girls. In modern times they are worn by women of all ages. Mary Janes are typically considered formal for girls and informal when worn by women.
As the name suggests, ever so sweet, Mary Janes is the type of shoes or sandals with a strap that look girly and sweet at the same time. Nowadays, with more and more shoemakers becoming more bold and shifting from feminine looking style to fierce looking one there’s of course room for improvement for the sweet Mary Jane.
The modern Mary Jane not only depicts the femininity but also the power and confidence that today’s women radiated. This season Mary Janes inspired shoes with multiple straps and buckle can be found from several brands. I can see that this shoes will not only oomph your style to ready up for the current trend but it is also suitable for the office outfit.

GW suka yg nine west aza deh sesuai dgn bentuk kaki dan bentuk duit hehehehe… wah alamat ntar mlm kebawa2 mimpi nih…
i thought the loubotin are called gladiator shoes/sandals and the nine west are called ankle strap shoes/sandals? i alwyas think that mary janes are shoes with strap around the instep and mostly closed toes. mungkin eike kurang update
I second purplerebel’s sentiment…
iya, mnrt gw sepatu2 di atas lebih cocok dibilang gladiator shoes kali ya..
shoes nowadays are sooo.. overrated! & blame it on gladiator sandals who started it all, since they’re much too unusual. guess this is one of those steps of evolution

Which one is it writer, mary jane or gladiator?
hmm.. there are so many terms these days that even myself, i’m honestly far behind and lost .. not everything should be politically correct anyway =)
it’s true that mary-janes are typically closed toes, flats or w/ heels. Although, i’ve seen some reinvented with a very very narrow open-toe, sky high heels, accentuated w/ bow/ ribbon appliquee, etc.. but the straps are the ones usually modified, with double, triple or more straps, ankle straps, T-strap, or their usual classic strap..
and long before gladiator were “hip”, those two shoes above would simply be called strappy shoes/heels/sandals.
If those shoes are without buckles, and there are more straps on the front edge of the shoes, some ppl refer them NOW as “caged shoes” altho’ i think the term caged shoes belong to those with a grid or basket weave pattern..arghh too much, i wonder who invented all these terms… why dont we just call them “pretty shoes” and that would make our life easier hehe ;D
Dys – thanks for helping to better explained ya…
purplerebel, simandoux, polkadot – i think you’re all are also right these are also classified as gladiator. The mary-jane inspired IMO solely relies on the straps itself
Sorry for the late reply gals
