Shredded & Cut Out Leggings : Yay or Nay?

Yay or Nay?
After neon, latex, printed, metallic, zipper, studded, lace, sequined and other thousand types of leggings, what would be the NEXT BIG THING in the world of Leggings?
With the recent trend of ripped jeans and tights, cut out and caged details, here come the shredded and cut out leggings.
American Apparel has this cool styling tip in wearing the shredded leggings by mixing them with a pair of brighter color leggings underneath. The shredded leggings from Silence & Noice seem to be inspired from Balmain‘s ripped jeans, meanwhile Alexander Wang and Rodarte have these chic leather cut out leggings. In order to avoid looking like some punk or homeless, you could try pairing these leggings with heels, boots, or any statement shoes. Any elements which would give an “edge” to your look.
These leggings also seem to be pretty “wearable” in a hot humid weather especially in tropical countries like Indonesia, so your legs would be able to get some fresh air through the holes =)
A lot of people have tried to do their own D.I.Y version of ripped jeans which I found pretty cool and original. But, I wonder if that could also be applied to leggings, knowing how the materials used on most leggings are quite tricky and would easily frayed if we cut them. Park & Cube has these amazing D.I.Y tips in making the Rodarte’s cut out leggings and Chic in the Tropics also shares great D.I.Y tips of Alexander Wang’s leggings. Are there any FDers out there who have tried and succeeded in cutting their own leggings? Please do share your tips with us!

Dari semuanya, gue suka shredded leggings yang nggak terlalu gede bolong2nya itu, like Silence & Noise’s. Tapi koq gue ngeliatnya Silence & Noise’s leggingsnya nggak terlalu smooth yah, kayak kaki yang makenya berbulu gitu hehe.
Could be Yay for the right people like celebs or models but definitely nay for me.

deffinately yay
people just say ‘nay’ cause they can’t pull them off. They’re deffinately edgey,fashionable and wearable. People who say nay,besides not being able to pull them off, just don’t have an open mind or a good sense of fashion.
im of good height and slender – As someone that didnt really see the “yay” in the big comeback trend of leggings in general (i only wear them under my pants in the winter…) this is a MAJOR yay! for me.
I don’t see these as slutty at all, its not like its cut out on the butt or something. I see these more in the punk vein. The legs are completely covered except for the cut outs, how is this slutty? These will totally dominate with a cute top, my punk studded clutch purse and mankiller high heels. My fiancee loves that sh!t.
Yay. I wear them to metal shows with a tunic band halter and some boots. Makes your boring band t-shirt sexy and edgy.
