Move over Lily Donaldson, Coco Rocha, Gemma Ward, Agyness Deyn, Iekeliene Stange, Sasha Pivarova and their peer! One of my favorite model in the 90s, Shalom Harlow, is back in the modeling spotlight! Harlow and Eva Herzigova are on the Spring 09 H&M ad campaigns. Besides Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell who’ve never been out of the radar, or Carla Bruni who is now the first lady of France, I’m loving these veteran supermodels comeback, which first started probably in 2006 /07 with the famed Versace ads, then reaching its highlight in 2008 and still going strong in 2009.
I guess the return of 90′s fashion trend (doc marteen combat boots, padded shoulders, zipper and studded accessories, plaid shirts, baggy pants, pedal pushers, the whole MC Hammer meet Grunge Queen Courtney Love mixed with British eccentricity looks ;p) has also affected the demand of models from the 90s.
Just to name a few, Linda Evangelista for L’Oreal and Prada, Claudia Schiffer for Valentino and Yves Saint Laurent, Christy Turlington for Escada, Chanel and recently Bally, Stephanie Seymour for Valentino, Loewe and Louis Vuitton, Amber Valetta for Dsquared, Eva Herzigova for Louis Vuitton, and many more. Seeing all these 90s models feel like a blast from the past, the days where models are pretty diverse in body types and skin colors, have strong characters and personality, not just skinny rail-thin and anemic-looking teenagers crawling down the runways!

The competition must be pretty heated right now in the modeling industry, between senior and junior models. It definitely contradicts the industry perception that models’ career would go downhill when they get old! Which nineties models do you want to see? I want to see Stella Tennant, Nadja Auermann, Kristen McMenamy, Kirsty Hume, Yasmeen Ghauri, Chrystele, Irina Pantaeva, Chandra North, Caroline Murphy, Brandi Quinones, Sybil Buck, Trish Goff, the list goes on. Keep them coming, pleasee !

Yang paling gw cintaaaahhhh dari dulu itu si Christy Turlington. I was amazed with her striking green eyes and arched eyebrow, back then when I was 9 (kan itu jaman2nya kecentilan baca majalah si mama).
I wan to see her, Caroline Murphy and Paulina Porizkova.
Oh yeah.. Linda Evangelista the Chameleon. I think she deserves to stay on bed, unless the check is US$10.000 or more (LOL)
also, i love how most of them weren’t stick thin *exception being kate moss*. those with 90s era supermodel measurements skg ga boleh tampil di catwalk tuh.. padahal dulu2 aja ngliatanya udah ‘wih ini body kok imposibel bgt yaaa’, gimana yeee nasib those fickle tween minds of today..

I miss Emma Sjöberg – androgynous Swedish super model, very good in editorials and on the catwalk. Starred in French cop movies and was in Vanessa Paradis-video and George Michael’s ‘Too Funky’-video… Besides all the ones already mentioned, I also miss Tatjana Patitz, Susie Bick, Eve Salvail, Elle McPherson, Karen Mulder, Frederique van der Wal, Yasmin Le Bon, Patricia Velasquez, Esther Canadas and Veronica Webb.
