Yay, Fashion Week is here again! It’s the show “where super skinny models would be wearing super expensive cloths “ =D .. The New York Fashion Week starts today February 13th until February 20th, 2009 at The Tent in Bryant Park. Designers are pulling their belt tighter this Fashion Week due to the economic recession. Several designers dropped out from Bryant Park’s runways, from Vera Wang, Betsey Johnson, Carmen Mark Valvo, Peter Som, Sari Gueron, to Sass & Bide.

Some choose to show their Fall collections within their own studio/boutique (Vera Wang, Carmen Marc Valvo, Betsey Johnson, Naeem Khan, Monique Lhuillier and Peter Som), meanwhile designer Jenni Kayne prefers to show her collection at her parents’ Park Avenue apartment free-of-charge. Monique L’huillier, Temperley, and Carmen Marc Valvo choose to host presentations instead of runway shows. Marc Jacobs, DKNY invite fewer guests, and others have cancelled their after-parties (Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang, Calvin Klein, Zac Posen).

This year’s Fashion Weeks (F/W 2009 and S/S 2010 in September) would also be the last ones held at The Tent in Bryant Park. Starting next year, New York Fashion Week will move to the Lincoln Center, with a wider space and underground parking garage, but also far away from the garment district and most designers’ offices and workshops.

There would be several talented Indonesian designers participating in this Fashion Week. Indonesian-born designer, Farah Angsana, will be showing her Fall collection at The famous Tent.

Ardistia New York will host a presentation of her Fall/Winter 2009 collection at Hudson Hotel, and upcoming designer, KRATON Auguste Soesastro, will have his first runway show debut at the Asia Society.

Keep checking back FD for a quick coverage of the two Indonesian designers above!

Ahhh, thank you DYS, for the news! Agak sedih ya membayangnkan NY fashion week gak “serame” biasanya karena resesi. Tho I think it’s cute that Jenni Kayne decided to show her collection in her parents’ apartment, something I bet not many people thought about :D

Btw, who is Kraton Auguste Soesastro?

koukla: iya niy fash week kali ini rada berbeda pasti krn resesi.. im wondering fashion week di eropa pasti efek nya sama .. hehe iya ide yg bagus tuh si jenni kayne utk show di apt orangtuanya.. di daerah park ave pula, jd strategis lah

koukla & slesta: kraton auguste soesastro a young new indonesian designer, dia skolah design di paris dan pindah ke ny.. dan pernah kerja dgn bbg designers ternama (oscar de la renta, ralph rucci etc) koleksinya sgt2 detail dan made-to-measure.. ntar tak liput acaranya .. slesta, iya niy rada aneh ngebayangin pindah ke lincoln center.. uda abis soalnya kontrak nya di bryant park..
