Everytime my friends – who know I’ve quit my 9 to 5 job recently – asked me what I was doing, my response is almost always “I am busy.” They usually don’t believe me because they thought that if I don’t go to work anymore, surely I don’t have that much to do anymore right?

Wrong.

Yes I quit my glamorous 9 to 5 job. But I still work and I have plenty to do. Apart from writing as a contributor for several magazines, I am also busy working on our much loved Fashionese Daily. It seems like ages ago when Hanzky and I talked about this day, where we both could work from home, doing what we love while still having enough time for our children. It happened faster than I imagined. Fast forward 2 years later and now I am doing it!

It’s not surprising actually why I end up busier than ever because we don’t have personal assistants doing the small, tedious tasks. Plus there are “bigger” things that I have to take care of as well like setting up business plans with Hanzky, creating proposals, planning projects, managing the blog and forum and so many others that I can’t list down one by one. And I haven’t even added taking care of my cheeky 1 year old into the equation :)

The work never stops yet I am loving every minute of it.

So yes, everytime someone asks me how I’m doing after I stop going to office jobs, my answer will still be the same.

I am busy. But I am also happy.

    Thanks for the comments everyone,

I personally believe life is all about making choices. And there are always downsides to every choice. Yes I am happy in my current situation and that’s also because I have accepted whichever downside that comes with my decision to leave my previous job.

So guys, make your choices and learn to be happy with it because life is just too short! :)

Koukla, emang paling ideal tuh…kerja dirumah, bisa deket sama anak2, dan tetap berpenghasilan.
Gw jg lagi ngerintis :-) doing something I loved, and still get paid every month. Only the boss is myself hehehe

  23. Agastya says:

Such simple note can actually bring such big inspiration to others. Thanks Koukia. I love the idea of keeping yourself busy by doing what you really love. And i couldn’t agree more being happy with what you’ve chosen for yourself makes all the different.

so true!! not doing 9-5 anymore does not mean that you have more time, there are a million other things to do!
