Whether or not you believe in miracles, it has to be said that La Mer has successfully ‘converted’ many women and created a cult following.

To those of you who have not heard the story, Creme de la Mer was conceived by Dr. Max Huber, an Aerospace physicist, who suffered a horrible accident which resulted to a severe chemical burn that covered his face and body. Because medicine and science could not offer him any significant help, Hubert decided to help himself. Twelve years and six thousand experiment laters, he perfected the creme that would give his skin a dramatically smoother appearance.

Creme de la Mer contains the famous Miracle Broth. The ingredients are sea kelp, calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron, lecithin, Vitamin C, E and B12 plus oils of citrus, eucalyptus, wheat germ, alfalfa and sunflower. Though the ingredients seem like “regular” stuff, it’s the process of putting them together that makes this cream special. The bio-fermentation process, that takes 3-4 months to complete, is said to result in vital energies being spontaneously released. That is why, if you want to ‘activate’ the broth and release the key ingredients, you have to first warm a small amount of the creme between your fingertips before patting it on your face.

I received a small sample of La Mer The Moisturizing Gel Cream and I have to say, this is the best moisturizer I have ever tried so far. I have never tried the original creme formula so I can not compare but this gel texture is perfect for my oily-combo skin. It sinks right in to the skin and doesn’t feel heavy at all. I have annoying dry patches that would not go away no matter how religiously I moisturize night and day and it makes foundation a little hard to blend in these areas. With only 2 times using La Mer Moisturizing Gel Cream these dry patches are softened and not only my foundations blend more easily, it seems to last longer too. I find that I don’t need to touch up as often as my t-zone doesn’t seem too oily anymore. I am only using this gel during day time because I feel like I might need something thicker for night time and also…I am trying to make this precious stuff last as long as possible! :)

I know the price point of this little product has been talked about as much as the quality (or possibly even more). Some people are skeptical, thinking that the so-called ‘miracle’ is only a marketing ploy to be able to put a premium label on what should be a regular-priced skincare product. Well love it or hate it, La Mer is coming to Jakarta this month. If you want to know what the fuss is about I suggest you to try the product yourself and be the judge. As for myself, after using the product for 2 weeks, I can say it is worth the price tag though whether or not I will be able to afford a full-sized jar once my sample has gone away is an entirely different matter!

La Mer will be available on October 23, 2008 exclusively at Harvey Nichols – Grand Indonesia East Mall.

Gw sempet tertarik nyobain La Mer, but I want my moisturizer to do tasks (anti-aging or brightening, misalnya) other than just moisturizing and I dont think that La Mer does that.

Let’s hope so. Switching skincare brands, especially at that price, is a risk, so it’s great if there are samples..

    Dundan,
I’m not sure if it has anti-ageing properties but it claims to have healing properties jadi mestinya sih kalo spot2 aja bisa ilang ya, but then again I haven’t used this product long enough to prove the claim..

okayy menurut website, satu pot cream yg 16.5 oz = $1390. yg klo dirupiahin mendekati 14yuta sahaja..
rather astronomical for a bit of cream ehh.

tapi gue yakin di indo teteup laku. sigh.

I’ve been using Lamer for years and I can say the product is amazingly excellent. No alcohol and no irritation will occur so it is very safe product for even to very sensitive skins. I’ve tried so many products already and I can tell Lamer is the best.
