Styletracker » Going Flat after The Show

“Without a shadow of a doubt, the handbag is less important, and the shoe and the long stretch of leg have arrived in New York like a tornado force. The women are all in these spidery strapped shoes, usually black, very high heels. All over the city you’ll seem them changing their shoes into comfy flats and putting the high heels away.” - Bill Cunningham

New York Fashion Week has ended weeks ago, but I can’t help not to post these interesting snapshots during the fashion week. Long before Scott Schuman made The Sartorialist famous for its candid shots, Bill Cunningham has been capturing fabulous candid shots and street snaps for the New York Times. At the recent New York Fashion Week, Cunningham amazingly captured one of the most common thing that most women did after seeing the shows at the Tent: changing their shoes into comfy flats and putting away their painful sky high heels *which is quite a daily routine among New York women especially during the morning and evening rush hour.

See more photos of gorgeous heels and to-die-for shoes as captured by Cunningham, after the jump.

After seeing all these shoes, I’m really considering to practice or at least make an extra effort to wear painful heels again. They definitely look great, and make you seem to have a pair of long endless legs. But, would I choose pain over comfort? Hmm…maybe not.

ah, nostalgia to the good old days where i would have my high heels stashed nicely under my office table while i run around the city in flats, flip flops or plainly a nice pair of sneakers.

something that people don’t do here in asia, well.. in spore! their feet are really made out of steel and they can literally walk around all day in those high heels, just like those women in sex & the city!! *little did they know that those women change those heels to a comfy flats, behind the scenes! ha!*

gezz..those women reminds me of my auntie who just visited Jakarta few days ago…

critanya gw ama dia lage shopping di Grand Indo dari pagi jem 10…n waktu magrib gitu kakinya uda mulai sakit, wearing her Gucci high heels…jadi atas saran gw..gw suruh dia lepas sepatunya and wear my hotel’s sandal(gw selalu bawa sandal dari hotel mulia..which is very comfort…and tipis banget!jadi gampang masuk di tote bag gw..coz smtimes gw pake converse jg sering lecet :( ,u know…canvas)

So,what about Victoria Beckham who said that she never wears flat shoes??

gw jg sll kalo pake heels yg nga comfy, terpaksa bawa sendal jepit buat siap2 melantai dikala sakit..apalagi pulang kantor banyak musti jalan
tetep tapi diusahakan tetep tampil walopun sepatu sakit ..

wah kirain mereka pake heels terus all day and all night. tapi ada beberapa org loh yg ga bisa pake flats saking kebiasannya pake heels, sampe klo ga pake sepatu aj jalannya jinjit. di singapur sih jalan bagus tapi klo sepatu keseringan dipake jd cepet rusak secara jalannya jauh ajaaa gitu dan kerjaannya jalan mulu.

  9. iyah emang lucu. mo dibeliin blahnik juga gak bakalan kepake kalo yg dikasih itu aku secara pasti langsung kraam & jari2 kakiku njepat semua :P (mending dijual!)

Setuju sama DYS, aku taro 3 pairs under my office table: satu heels, satu pantofel, dan flip flop.
i cannot stand wearing (really) high heels like above more than 4 hours for walking at the malls..karena stuktur kaki-ku termasuk Bunion feet…i prefer wedges to lift my height.

It’s true, heels are uncomfortable after awhile, but I still enjoy the attention and looks I get when wearing a pair of strappy high heeled sandals with a short skirt. ; )
