Around 12 years ago, my mother’s best friend passed away from breast cancer. She was a beautiful, fun, free-spirited woman and she played a big part in some of my most treasured childhood memories. It was a devastating loss to our family and I still miss her terribly but I can not even begin to imagine how it must be like for her children and husband.
Breast cancers affect millions of people around the world. That’s the cold hard fact. And as women, we too face the frightening possibility of being diagnosed with it. But it doesn’t mean that there is nothing we can do. 98% of breast cancer cases can be cured if detected early. So you know what this means. Do a self breast exam. Get a mammogram.

Different layout, same great stuff!

We’d like to proudly introduce FD’s new layout. We thought that a new layout was long overdue since we had more information than ever and will plan to add more features in the future. As you can tell, there’s nothing fancy about this new layout because we are focusing more on the web usability aspect so that information can be presented in a clear and concise way based on many inputs of one’s thought process when visiting our site.

Hanzky in Editors' Picks, Handbags — October 27th, 2008

I want, okay, scratch that..I n.e.e.d an everyday black bag. One that is medium sized (I’m tired of oversize bags). This Frye Malorie Satchel seems like that one I’ve been looking for. It’s made out of leather, it has enough gold hardware to make it interesting and the handle is such a unique detail. It’s not a tote but the handle is long enough to be comfortably slung over your shoulder. The zipper closure combine with a strap closure makes it easier to take your stuff in and out, you can just leave it unzipped and your stuff will still be secured inside. $495 from Zappos.com

Being a true red lipstick addict, I was of course ecstatic to hear that MAC’s 2008 Holiday collection is named Red, She Said. To be sure a fabulous red lipstick is going to be in it. For the record, I owned last holiday’s Queen’s Sin lipstick and it is one of the best red lipsticks I own.
Anyway, I had a chance to look at and play with the actual products last week and got a gorgeous makeover by none other than our most-loved makeup artist, Darwyn.
Pictures? Plenty!

DYS in Shoes — October 24th, 2008

Besides the pretty heels and sandals, I’m sure many of us can not live without sneakers. After posting about sky-high heels a while ago, it’s about time to put sneakers in the spotlight. They’re sometimes ignored, sitting on the very bottom of our shoe closet or maybe in the corner, under your bed, uncovered with fancy shoebag, dusty, simply forgotten, unlike their other ‘’spoiled sisters” (stilettos, pumps, sandals, flats, boots, etc.). Sneakers are often associated with ugly running shoes, boring trainers, or simply outdated sport footwear. In fact, sneakers come in attractive fun colors and prints. Today, most of them are not even made anymore for running, hiking, nor performing any sport activities. Although most of the time, I abuse and force them to jog and hike *I just can’t stand the look of my boring running shoes and would rather wear my tortured Adidas Melbourne sneakers instead ;p
