Apart from looking at the beautiful clothes and the gorgeous shoes, the one thing I enjoy most from Jakarta Fashion Week was of course the makeup! As usual, most designers tried to translate the concept of their design into the faces of the model so we’re here to show you some of the most interesting ones.

Rusly Tjohnardi, who came in and surprised everyone with his far-from-usual display of beads and pastel palettes, went artistic with the makeup choosing an intricate design around the eyes and blue (yes blue!) lipstick.

At Akira Isogawa, who did absolutely amazing work if I may add, the makeup took a Japanese-inspired direction where the eyes are decorated with a shade of pink and white that match the flower decorations on the models’ hair.

Ali Charisma brought out the models’ inner punk by adding a touch of red liner on the lower lash line.

And of course, the models at Oscar Lawalata show took the stage in their “modern-day kabuki” persona which, albeit predictable, still showed a strong sense of who the designer is and why he’s been around all this time while many young designers come and go.

Btw the makeup was done by Clarins while the hairdo was created by Gusnaldi. I am as surprised as you folks are, I didn’t know Clarins does any backstage makeup!

All photos were taken by the fabulously talented FD intern Cheyqua :)
