YAY or NAY?

We’ve been seeing pretty bows on the runways these past seasons, from handbags, shoes, dresses, to blouses, they’re all adorned with bows. Classic bow ties, the ones usually worn by men, have been reappearing on the runways of Fall 2008. Karl Lagerfeld and Carolina Herrera are among the ones styling their collection with bow ties. Model Irina Lazareanu wore her 3.1. Philip Lim tuxedo dress paired with a cute bow tie to the Met Gala event last year. The first things that come to my mind whenever I see a woman wearing a bow tie, are the Playboy Bunnies, with their fitted corset, bunny ears, fishnet tights, and a bow tie collar ;d I’ve also seen women wearing bow tie in some conservative hotels in Switzerland. They were the front desk or concierge employees. I guess it’s part of their daily uniform hehe ;D
Those bow ties actually reminded me of my days at Club Monaco. I remember watching my male coworkers tying their bow ties. And how I wish they made me wear them as well, that would be so much fun!

On the other hand, women wearing bow tie could be considered as a statement. Remember the legendary portrait of Marlene Dietrich wearing tux and a bow tie? It used to be associated with woman’s equality, liberation and all that “feminism statement view”, while others simply see it as an androgynous and menswear inspired fashion statement. So, what do you think? Yay or Nay?
