Keffiyeh Now and Then

Looking back at the last season, we know that keffiyeh or kaffiyah was a hit for a couple of winter. If you are a regular visitor of “Today’s Outfit” thread, you should have known that keffiyeh is the signature style of one infamous FD-member, Purplerebel. Keffiyeh commonly used in the Middle East as a protector from sun exposure, as well as to avoid dust or sand that’s blown away directly to face. However, some people narrowly relate keffiyeh with political issue, while the rest (including me) found it like another interesting accessory, which came in black-white or red-white checkered print.
Keffiyeh became very popular in the fashion industry on 1980s, when bohemian girls with dangling earrings started to accessorized keffiyeh around their necks. A few years ago, keffiyeh turned again to be a hit in Tokyo, one of world’s biggest fashion districts. They often paired the scarf with camouflage clothing, to create a stylish army look. The trend recurred 2 years ago in US, Europe, Canada and Australia. At that time, keffiyeh was worn in a hipster way, a bit loose on the neckline. Nowadays, keffiyeh is also worn with dresses, leather jacket, hot pants or whatever you want it to be paired-up with. In order to adapt with the growing hype, people in fashion industry started to produce keffiyeh in a range of new colors. Now, you can spend more time to choose your favorite one, especially when it is available in hot colors like purple, red, shocking pink, blue, etc.

Currently, bright colors and floral prints flooded in the spring collections. If you visit your nearest street-label stores, you might find like what I found recently; a floral prints keffiyeh. Yes. I found it in the accessories section of one H&M store. It came to my attention because the appearance is really unique and different from the usual checker prints one. I guess I will give this floral prints keffiyeh a try! Let me know what you think. Is it a YAY or a NAY?

I’m getting tired of this trend. tadinya sih pengen jadiin siggy style gua tapi koq ya jadi buanyak bener di jkt *curhat aink*.. in short, for me it’s a nay.. *minority nih gua hehehe* tapi kalo gua tinggal di luar indo, it’s a yay!!

it’s a nay if it is in the original print (you know… the square ones worn by the taliban :D) too many brits in newcastle wearing them, thus i won’t be one of ‘em. but i’d defo wear the floral print ones. i think they are preetttyy…

hmm as much as i love keffiyeh n scarves..but keffiyeh with flower prints, im not sure since i havent seen one myself yet.. it all depends on the flower prints, if it follows the same theme/patterns of the keffiyeh, flower motif with arabesque or ottoman style gitu mungkin lucu jg siy krn keffiyehnya sendiri asalnya dr daerah sana.. so it’s a YAY, depending on the flower patterns
..kalo flower print nya terlalu bohemian eastern european, abstract atau gaya oriental kayaknya it’s a big NAY 
kecuali si keffiyeh2 nya balenciaga tuh lucu2xxx ada nyampur motif2 nya tp yah kemahalan.. hehe ;d
sama di nyc jg pasaran banget keffiyeh, mending yg dijual tuh yg real ones, ini tipiss banget dan bhn nya jelek bukan yg original kaya dr middle east! tebel dan anget. gw punya keffiyeh dr smp dulu tinggal di negri arab, dan emang trend bgt waktu itu di smp gue.. skrg gw hibahkan ke suami, dia sempet make pas winter tp krn pasaran uda males ;(

yay for me, gw punya dua2nya yg taliban vers and floral, gw ga pernah pake yg taliban lagi kayanya udah out skrg, and floral is in now, so i vote for the floral one

nay for me unfortunately. sebenernya lucu si keffiyeh ini, tp udah terlalu buanyak bgt orang pake, termasuk abg2 di mol :p
i’m not too sure about the flower ones either.

i’ve been wearing keffiyeh long before it becomes a trend. I wear it for its political stand (supporting Palestinians’ struggle against Israelis’ invasion). For that, I will keep wearing it regardless whether it’s in or out. In fact, I hope it will be out of trend soon, so it could go back to its ‘original meaning’

And I really admire those people who can improvise with the trend. Now I can find tee which permanently stitched or trompe l’oeil printed with keffiyeh

yaayyy banget,,,,gw baru nemu nih kafiyeh with floral prints di lemari nyokap setelah bongkar2, uda tuwir..warna dasarnya sih item tapi bungan2nya cerah rada2 vintage gtu…da gw pake beberapa kali, tapi gw suka ..bakal sering make dehhh

Tadinya “Yay” karena gw punya yg motif kotak2 tapi baru sekali pake tengsinnya gak ketulungan karena ketemu 10 orang lebih yg make benda yg sama. Sejak itu “Nay” ah!
