LOOKBOOK, a website that is currently in beta-testing phase, is exactly what it says in the front page of the website: a social fashion experiment for style enthusiasts around the world.

What is it?

* a social fashion experiment inspired by street fashion blogs (think Sartorialist and StreetPeeper) as well as “What are you wearing today” forum threads

How does it work?

* You upload pictures of your “looks” and browse others.
* Vote on stuff you like–the hottest looks bubble up to the front page each day.
* If people vote for your looks, you gain “karma” which builds your reputation as a style guru.

What can I use it for?

* Show off and instruct people on the art of your style
* Improve your image through feedback
* Promote your brand and showcase your work if you’re an independent designer.
* Get inspired by creative outfits from fashionable people all over the world

How to sign up?

* Go to http://lookbook.nu?propaganda and enter your e-mail at the bottom.
* We’ll send you an invite to get in before we’ve launched to the public.

The goal?

* Form an active community driven by people who have creative fashion sense.
* Provide an organized way to discover and influence the latest street fashion trends.

What I like:

Unlike The Sartorialist (which I love!), LOOKBOOK lets its members to submit their own looks (which means, you can definitely participate!). It is different in the sense that it is contributed by more than one person (a whole lot of people, in fact). Think of FD Forum’s Today’s Outfit with a larger, more global audience. I personally think the looks posted by LOOKBOOK members are phenomenal. You can also vote for the looks that you love. The top voted ones would be featured on the website.

Should you sign up?

Looking for a style diary? This is exactly how LOOKBOOK would suit you. Even if you don’t care about the voting system, it would be fun to maintain an outfit diary of your own.

Love watching people’s styles and modify them to create your own unique look? There are a lot of styles featured in LOOKBOOK. Surely you can find several that you fancy.

If you are an independent designer or an aspiring model, you could contact LOOKBOOK to get noticed. Who knows, LOOKBOOK would pick you to be showcased on its front page.
