Koukla in Face Escentials, S/S 2008, Trends — March 6th, 2008
It pains me to confess this, but I couldn’t hold it in any longer.
Ever since I gave birth, I started streamlining my makeup routine to save time. Gone were the days when I could spend 30 mins or more applying makeup from primer to powder. Gone were the days when I could conveniently choose a number of eyeshadows to play with or experiment with a new lipcolor. Believe it or not I have some products in my makeup bag that are still in their packaging!
But as a true banci dandan, I of course could not completely go without makeup. Oh, that would absolutely kill me! So instead, I maximize the functions of a few products or completely skip a step.
For example, I’ve been deliberately skipping eyeliners these past couple of weeks. As you know, applying eyeliners require precision, patience and most of all time. I tried using pencil, but still - applying pencils on your eyes in a moving car - where the risk of being poked is considerably high - is no easy feat. So I chose to load up on mascara instead.
Wednesday, March 5th is the FINALE of the Project Runway Season 4 ! I’m sureee many of you can not wait to see the winner, just like myselfff =)…. This season is my favorite season of all Project Runways, so many great talents and great designs, various guest judges, unpredictable challenges… Even one of the past finalists, Victorya Hong, who won the SJP’s Bitten challenge, didn’t make to the final but surprisingly had her first collection in the New York Fashion Week, click here to view her collection under the label “na be by Victorya Hong”.
I’ve never been this excited until I started to watch this particular season and I thought there should be a post in FD dedicated to Project Runway Season 4 ;) To those who are not familiar with the show, there’s already a thread about it in the forum, or click here to find out more about the complete show, the season 4 finalists, and the judges.

DYS in Books & Magazine — March 4th, 2008
Two interesting contents on the New York Magazine, February 25th issue created a buzz everywhere. The first one is the photo series of Lindsay Lohan portraying Marilyn Monroe, and the second is “The Anti Anna” article with Carine Roitfeld, the editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris.
As some of you have already heard in the news, Lindsay Lohan re-created the last nude photo shoot of Marilyn Monroe in the Last Sitting. The Last Sitting is a photo series of Monroe shot by photographer, Bert Stern in 1962 at the Bel-Air Hotel. Six weeks after the shoot, Monroe was found dead of an overdose. The photos became one of the most iconic photographs of Marilyn Monroe, which have inspired a thousand of other fashion stories. (Remember the GUESS ad campaigns in the late 90s? I personally think some of them have that Monroe-esque vibe especially the ones featuring Eva Herzigova, Drew Barrymore and the late Anna Nicole Smith).

Koukla in Celebrity, Haircare — March 1st, 2008
Though I was quite disappointed to see the clothes on this year’s Academy Awards red carpet (bo-oring), it was interesting to note that there was one hairstyle that seemed to be favored by many celebrities that night : pony tail!
I never thought that pony tails can be worn for formal events, but I guess you could. And the nicest things about it is it doesn’t even look hard to recreate it yourself at home without the help of a hairstylist. From the way I see it, you can just blowdry your hair, smooth some hair glossing products, tie it in a loose pony tail and you’re ready to go! Or you could use curling irons and hair rollers first to give the pony tail a bit of flirty curls (like Anne Hathaway or Nancy O’Dell did). I like that this style conveys the message that you are not trying too hard. It’s effortless chic!
