..That’s right, what’s better way to embrace the new year other than a brand spanking new layout?
So how do you like it ladies? The blog page is much cleaner now and will solely focus on the contents. The index page received an extreme make over. It’s becoming more portal-like, providing the latest update of all the pages within Fashionese Daily (blog, directory, fitting room and the forum).
Some glitches are inevitable while we’re in the process of transforming everything, so we apologize for the inconvenience. And please do tell us if you find anything suspicious that need to be revised. Thank you and enjoy our new home…:))
Don’t forget to give a BIG round of applause to the architect and the interior designer of this new layout..Thomas and Loucee…YAAYY….:))

Think pink! think pink! when you shop for summer clothes.
Think pink! think pink! if you want that quel-que chose.
Red is dead, blue is through,
Green’s obscene, brown’s taboo.
And there is not the slightest excuse for plum or puce
—or chartreuse.
Think pink! forget that Dior says black and rust.
Think pink! who cares if the new look has no bust.
Now, I wouldn’t presume to tell a woman
what a woman oughtta think,
But tell her if she’s gotta think: think pink—!
(Maggie Prescott, Funny Face)
Pink is the sista’ of red symbolizing fire, excitement, and intense feeling even including angry. Pink is often associated with love and romance. Every Valentine’s day, the shopping malls, the stores, the chocolates, and even we turn to pink. At least, that is what I saw in the last Valentino’s Spring/Summer 2008 show. It was opened with sweet playful modern pink women and closed with the pink goddesses.

Some might consider pink is too girly or too feminine. Personally, I think pink is sweet. Regardless of that, contrasted with the sister (red), a research by Dr. Alexander Schauss, Ph.D., director of the American Institute for Biosocial Research in Tacoma Washington has concluded that one shade of pink called drunk tank pink has a calming effect. He inquired that pink can suppress angry, antagonistic, and anxiety ridden behavior among prisoners.
“Even if a person tries to be angry or aggressive in the presence of pink, she can’t. The heart muscle can race fast enough. It’s a tranquilizing color that saps your energy. Even the color-blind are tranquilized by pink rooms”

Hanzky in Men's Fashion, S/S 2008, Trends — January 7th, 2008

Ladies, I present you here the men’s fashion trend for your loved ones that will go so well with the so many current flood warnings that have been issued right in our home country; the rolled up pants!! It was everywhere in the S/S 08 runway, from Junya Watanabe, Comme Des Garcons, Dries Van Noten, Alexander McQueen show and many more!!.
So, would you let your boyfriend or your husband wear this trend? Hmm I probably would, as long as he only wears to the Friday Prayer in the Mosque near our house and pair it with his swallow flip flops…:D

…then you’d be excited since the eccentric Karl Lagerfeld has invented such a great alternative for those who have gone tired of opaque tights or stockings: skinny pants which actually are too sheer to be considered as pants, but it’s also too wide and too flare to be called stockings or tights. Yeah, whatever you name it!
Pertama kali saya melihat koleksi spring 2008 ready-to-wear persembahan Monsieur Karl Lagerfeld, perhatian saya langsung tertuju pada stocking unik tersebut. I was like: he’s a genius!

Hanzky in Editorial — January 2nd, 2008

Of course, I’ll keep this list strictly to Fashion and beauty. Last year, I made a list too in here and looking back, I think I managed to stay on track for the most part. Granted I did buy a few things I shouldn’t have bought according to the list, but it’s not too bad, really, I think it was only a palette of Milani Eyeshadow, a MAC brush and a pair of jeans. So I’ve been a good girl in sticking to the list..but when it comes to sticking to the budget, err..that’s entirely a different story…:D
Now here’s mine for this year:
1. No maternity clothes.
I am currently five and a half months pregnant, so gaining weight is inevitable. I’m not going to starve myself and the baby inside me just so I don’t ballooned up. But I’ll try my best to control what I eat and not go with the eating-for-two philosophy all the time…:D. So far, I have only bought 1 maternity jeans and 1 bella band. Thank goodness for all those empire waist/baby doll/volume trends, they are such a blessing for pregnant women. Because of them, I still manage to avoid maternity tops. Hopefully I can hang on to the clothes that I have now for another three and a half months. Also, hopefully I can shed off those baby fat before the end of the year..I know this is easier said and done. Maybe by having my belly wrapped with the good old 5 meters long stagen for 30 days after I deliver my baby will help speed off the process..ameeenn…:D
2. New hairstyle.
Not now, but sometimes around April. I need to get me a short, easy-to-manage-but-nevertheless-still-look-stylish hairstyle before the baby is born. Sometimes, breastfeeding makes your hair fall out like crazy so it’s best to keep it short. Besides, short hair is easier to maintain too..like I will have time to stand in front of the mirror blow drying and straightening my long hair after every shampoo session!!
3. Quality over Quantity.
I’m planning to go home for good this year. So just in case I have to downgrade the shopping when I get home and can’t shop as much, I still have the beautiful clothes that can withstand the test of time. This means, more shopping through eBay for me or just wait until I can hit Nordstrom rack. And this means, avoiding Forever 21 and H&M at all cost, unless I find stuff that are breathtakingly beautiful.
4. Buy dressier clothes.
Jakarta is different than here when it comes to dressing up. Here, I can get away with wearing flip flops and jeans and tee everywhere with my hair up in a bun. But back home, people are more concern about their looks, and I will have more formal events to attend and meeting more people on the professional level. So, no more buying clothes that are too casual for me. No more buying jeans (okay, maybe 1 or 2 at the most) because I rarely wear them whenever I’m home, it’s been always skirts and dresses time. It’s time to stock up on the editor pants from express, the blazer, clothes with industrial fabric, silk, pencil skirt and the like.
5. Touch up.
There are a lot of times when I go out all day and don’t even bother to check on my make up. I’m not going to reapply my entire make up in a public bathroom or anything like that, but at least I’ll make a point to reapply my lipstick just to freshen up the look..
6. Invest in real jewelry.
I have never thought of buying jewelry as investment in a way that I can sell it back for higher prices like our moms do, especially not when you live here in the State. But it really is an investment when you live back home, you can sell it back whenever you are bored with the style, exchange it with another one or just take the cash home, or just keep it it your jewelry box so you can pass it down to your daughter. I have two beautiful rings that my grandma and my mom passed it to me..and I cried when I received them. It’s like a legacy is being passed on me and they serve as a tangible reminder that some part of them is always there with me. I hope I can continue the tradition and pass those rings to my daughter. See, with all those benefits..that means no more jewelry shopping with guilty feelings for us..isn’t that nice?..It’s about time we can go shopping without the guilty feeling..:D
Now, tell me what’s your fashion resolution?

Ready or not, here it comes!!
New year is always an exciting time. We never know what next year brings, but we sure do hope that it will bring us nothing but good things. I have never been this excited to welcome a new year before, I’m crossing my finger that it’s as promising as it looks…:).
New year is a good time to do an evaluation of what we did during the past year, to check if we’re still on track to accomplish our long term goals and to write a resolution of what we’re going to achieve the following year. I am one of those people who truly believe that writing down your goals is the first important step towards making them happen. We always write down something that we don’t want to miss, right? For example like loved ones birthday, job interview, appointments, etc. So it’s only make sense to write something more important than those, something bigger, like your goals and make the list as your road map to your success. So go ahead, write them down, and make sure to have at least one extra ordinary goal, something that shakes you out of your comfort zone, to make life more interesting, challenging and surprising, to see what you’re really made of..:)
On behalf of Fashionese Daily, I would like to thank all of the faithful readers, the wonderful members on the forum to make this place so much enjoyable to visit. It’s my pleasure to know so many new and inspiring people all over the world. Let’s hope we can take this place up a notch, be better and bigger in 2008. May the 2008 rolls flawlessly as our makeup looks when we wear our favorite Smasbox Photofinish Primer…:o)
Cheers!!!
