Unleash Your Inner Copywriter!

Koukla in Contest — January 17th, 2008

Like to play with words and want to show the world you’ve got some cool ideas? Or you just love FD so much and can’t wait to express it in a creative way? :D

Here’s your chance!

As most of you know, we recently changed our tagline to “Indonesia Fashion Spot” which, to be really honest here, we feel isn’t quite right yet. We’ve been trying to figure out another tagline which really captures the spirit and concept of Fashionese Daily but you know what they say….1000 heads are better than 5! (That’s Hanzky, DYS, Thomas, Loucee and me, if you’re wondering)

So anyway, you can help us out and submit your idea for our tagline and because we’re super nice…we will give you a cool prize as a reward. A sparkling and lush fragrance : Island Michael Kors! This fragrance is a radiant mix of Kauai waterfalls, Chinese Kiwi, Ginger Lilies, Bulgarian Rose, and other exotic notes. It’s worth $40 and it can be yours if you can come up with what we’re looking for!

Here’s how :

- Submit your creation / idea on the comment section. One person can submit more than one tagline.

- If you’ve been a faithful reader or forum member of Fashionese Daily, we’re sure you know what we’re looking for. The tagline has to represent this blog as a growing fashion community for Indonesian ; and is chic, fun and relatable. But do try to limit the tagline to a few words only as we want it to be catchy and easy to remember.

- The contest opens for 2 weeks, starting today

- If we find any tagline that we like or at least close to one and is right for FD, we will give the creator a 50 ml Island Michael Kors Eau De Parfum Spray - if not, well, we’re gonna have to keep the prize and use it in another contest I guess…:D

- Due to the shipping restriction on liquid, the prize will be sent within Indonesia only (so if the winner is located outside the country, you have to provide us with an Indonesian address)

We really look forward to hearing your creative ideas!

Plush Lash

Koukla in Face Escentials, Tested — January 15th, 2008

Even though most people go to MAC for their incredible range of colors, this brand actually makes decent mascaras. They’re not the best mascara, mind you, but safe and reliable. Pro Lash and Pro Long Lash are both really good everyday mascara while Zoomlash will give you a nice, flirtatious curl that holds quite a long time. The only drawback to those products is they’re not waterproof so on people with oily skin like me (especially around the eye area), they will eventually smudge. Enter Loud Lash. This mascara is able to curl and lengthen and stay on the whole day. Mine ran out a few weeks ago and I was just about to repurchase when I was presented with the newest addition of MAC mascara line : Plush Lash.

Because I was really pleased with the last product, naturally I expected Plush Lash to be another success. Boy, was I wrong. This mascara comes with a unique brush that is flat on one side and rounded on the other. The brush is quite big, similar to DiorShow, and a bit hard to control. That’s one flaw. The second one is it doesn’t curl my lashes. I always use curler before applying mascara and Plush Lash only made them straight again. So weird. I also didn’t notice my lash looking fuller or more “plush”…they just look more black to me. Another thing, and this is a huge flaw, it smudges so badly! I’ve only worn it for a couple hours, although admittedly it was a rather hot day, and already I’ve got raccoon eyes! Yuck!

Suffice to say, I’m disappointed with this product. I noticed that a lot of people on makeupalley seem to think they’ve found their HG mascara with Plush Lash so I might be the minority. Try it if you’re curious, but for me, I’ll keep searching for “the” mascara and will wear the old, trusted ones in the meantime.

Plush Lash is available at any MAC store for Rp. 135.000

This post has been sitting on my draft for MONTHS! I can’t believe that I wasn’t able to post it sooner. I wanted to post this as my very first post of 2008 in FD but it actually took me quite a while just to gather all the pictures. We’ve seen and read enough about all the latest faces, the newcomers of these past few seasons. From Agyness Deyn, Gemma Ward, Irina Lazareanu, Lily Cole, Coco Rocha, Jessica Stam, Lily Donaldson, Iekeline Stange, Doutzen Kroes, Sasha Pivarova, Hana Soupokova, Julia Stegner, Anja Rubik, Behati Prinsloo, Carolina Trentini, Christina Kruse, Freja Beha, bla bla bla…. a long endless list. They’ve all been widely exposed, but what about the new Asian faces?

59. Inside Retrojunkies’ Bag

Hanzky in Inside Her Bag — January 13th, 2008

The Bag: This is my daily bag recently. A bit wacky but I love it so much, especially its pair of 3 dimension silvery angelic wings. I got it secondhand from my friend, very low price, under IDR 100.000,-!
The brand is Romi and Juli and have no idea where it’s coming from ^_^ but surely it’s quite an entertainment for a high-leveled hormones lady like me nowadays.

The Contents:

  • Worn off baby blue wallet.
  • Shocking green plastic pill box for pregnancy vitamins
  • Black hairy scrunchy to hold my ponytail once in a while
  • Flowery shocking pink note book to write or sketch something
  • Personal entertainment center: my beloved black nano iPod with Phillips SBC HP 438 head phone
  • Fossil watch that I tend to keep it inside the bag than wear it
  • Checkered shawl from Cambodia as a fashion 911 to make sure that I always be stylish and warm enuf at the same time ^_^
  • Small bucket of Vaseline
  • Last but not least: make ups: MAC’s compact, lipstick and lipglass, eyelashes curler, CM foundie+mini kabuki brush, The Body Shop’s Vitamin E moisturizer and compact powder, Maybelline’s blush.
  • Things I forgot/didn’t put it together there: my-oh-so-Nicole-Richie-look-a-like-big and cheap sunglasses, my mobile, the camera, hand sanitizer and mosquito repellent spray.

Logo A Gogo..

Hanzky in Celebrity, Editorial — January 11th, 2008

Have you voted on the new poll in the front page? This time, I threw a question regarding wearing designer logos. Some people like logoed stuff, some people totally loathe it. Different strokes for different folks, they say. As for myself, there are logoed stuff that I like and dying to have, but there are also some stuff that I think are hideous. Most of the time though, it depends on how you wear it and how you mix and match it with the other elements in your outfit.

But I always follow this rule when it comes to logo: no more than one visible logo in one outfit!! It’s been a pretty easy rule for me to follow since I don’t have many logoed stuff to begin with..:D, but even if I have a rack full of logoed stuff, I would never wear them together. I don’t want to look like a walking billboard, thank you very much!

The pictures of Hillary duff up there can be shown as example. In the first picture, she is carrying her LV speedy azur bag and wearing flats emblazoned with Chanel logo. In the second picture, she is toting her LV speedy monogram bag with a Burberry cap. Two logos in one outfit! I think the logos are wearing her instead of her wearing her clothes, not to mention that there are too many prints in the second outfit. The bags, the shoes and the cap are beautiful on their own, but when worn together, they are just too much and instead of showing her personality through her clothes, she’s showing how much she has spent for her outfit.

And how about Missy Elliots sporting her Dior trench coat, Dior cap, and is that a Dior shirt underneath? Or is that a Dior vest with a Dior Belt? All from the rasta line. Whatever it is, her whole look is just tacky.

Of course, you can find more examples in real life, like at the mall. I’m sure you’ve seen a girl toting  an LV monogram bag, with her Gucci monogram mules, with an Hermes belt wrapping her little waist (the one with the big H), and probably with Chanel sunglasses placed sitting pretty on her head, you know the one with the interlocking CC on each side that you can tell it’s Chanel from a mile away. Hideous, isn’t it? To me, she screams fashion victim. Designers stuff from head to toe is fine if that’s your lifestyle, just not the one swamped with logos.

How about you? How many logos will you wear in one outfit?
