Primer Review - Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer

If you’re a beauty junkie, chances are you’ve heard of Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer. This is what’s referred by many people as the “holy grail of foundation primer” and thanks to miss Hanzky, I finally got the chance to try it!

This product comes in a colorless formula that contains grapeseed extract which helps to soothe and protect skin. As soon as the product touches my skin, I knew right away that those people weren’t exaggerating about its quality. Smashbox Photo Finish fills in fine lines and pores, creating an incredibly smooth and velvety finish. It feels comfortable and weightless on skin too. I applied my usual MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation and it glided on beautifully. The foundation was very easy to blend evenly and I didn’t need to put as much product as usual because with the help of this amazing primer, my face was already glowing flawlessly.

Wait that’s not it! I must also tell you about its incredible staying power. The first time I tried this primer, I had another busy day. I ran around places, under the scorching hot Jakarta sun, and at the end of the day, I felt like my body - including my face - had melted from the heat. I checked my reflection in the mirror, ready to witness another mess my foundation had created, and to my great surprise - there wasn’t any! Sure, there was a slight shine here and there which I could easily removed with a blotting paper, but when I looked closer, there wasn’t any cracking or melting in sight! My face looked fresh and glowy like hours before!

 I’ve also tried using mineral makeup on top of this primer and am happy to report that result is just as wonderful. This primer helps the mineral to adhere to the skin and make it stay there for the rest of the day. Believe it or not, ever since I used Smashbox Photo Finish, I almost never touch up my face with any powder anymore thus saving my oh-so-precious Mineralize Skinfinish Natural! What a great bonus!

    Produk ini emang jempolan. Tapi elo musti coba juga Dr Brandt ‘Pores No More”, Koukla. Kalo ini emang beneran bikin pori2 mingkem, tapi kurang bisa bikin muka smooth. Nah, Smashbox bisa tuh bikin muka licin bener. Kenapa gue jadi review gennee? :P

    Maaf teman2, produk ini tidak tersedia di Indonesia Raya…kalo bener2 pengen banget, nitip aja mendingan sama temen2 yg di luar. Atau beli di eBay, dengan catatan rela membayar biaya shipping yg kadang2 lebih mahal dari produknya :D

    Vveen, I don’t think this product is available in Singapore either. But maybe our readers in Singapore can confirm that..

    Dundan, waah yg bener lo ada yg bisa bikin pori2 lebih mingkem lagi? Cobain ah..pori2 gue makin lama makin kayak kawah semeru nih :P

    Jaman dahulu kala, Smashbox emang ada di Singapur. Tapi sekarang sayangnya dah gak ada lagi. Denger2 di Sri Lanka ada, walah itu jauh bener yah!

    I was really looking for primer with excellent result, and reading your post makes me browse on e-bay (since it’s not available in Jakarta). To my surprise..Koukla!!!!banyak banget macemnya..ada yang dgn spf, ada yang original, ada yang oily, ada yang di tube, ada yang di botol…which one is it?didn’t wanna order da wrong one… :-(
