I guess either the weather is unbelievably hot today or I’m just out of style (aren’t hot pants out of season already? or is it back on again?)…cuz I’ve been seeing people wearing hot pants like this all over Orchard road today. Most of them, i understand, are tourists… who are spending their vacation during the great Singapore sale. Though hot pants quite comfortable during hot weather (Though i wonder why wear black then?), I don’t think anyone can get away with this look
easily. I guess you just have to be pretty confident to let it fly. What do you think of this look?

Shorts emang masih trend kok Ta, apalagi di daerah tropis gini. Tapi itu orang cinta banget ama warna hitam kali yah.. lady in black literally.. klo di Jakarta bisa disuitin abang2 hahahaha

Di California sih hotpants lagi hot hot hot ya. Hehehe, soalnya emang udah mulai panas. And I think if you have decent, toned (and nicely tanned), legs, I say why not.
Menurut gw (and this is just my two-cents), to make them not look like you were a ho, pair them with either airy bohemian blouses or peasant tops or simple chic (bananana republic type) tops. And for day-look, flat peep toe or ballet flat shoes would look great with the hot pants.

devi girsang: enggak, ini foto candid, makanya mukanya di blur-in. kalo ga candid pasti diliatin deh mukanya..
tapi emang sih hot pants gitu back in style lagi, secara emang lagi summer sekarang.. cuma gue agak2 gimana gitu ama style ini, mungkin gara2 si vena melinda pernah pake hot pants untuk ke acara party gitu.. males deh liatnya..

julie: iya sebenernya style ini sih lucu2 aja.. kalo gue liatnya di pantai.. hehehe.. not at orchard during business hours.. but then again, she may be a tourist who’s on vacation. so i can’t blame her either!

I think she looks chic, walaupun bener juga kenapa harus item2 ya kalo alasan memakai celana pendek karena panas? My only comment (and I did try to let this go but I just can not)is she should’ve probably scrubbed her knees first but putting these pants on!

I love that style … kl item2 masi setuju krn badan gw lagi bengkak beberapa kilo sekarang. Kl hot pants disini selalu trend kl musim panas.

Hmm…I don’t know if I like the black-black look for hot weather (at least topnya mungkin mesti warnaan dikit dan rada loose kali ya?), but I like short pants in general for summer/tropical weather.

i also see them everywhere here in the north of england. tapi dipakenya pake leggings or tights lagi berhubung masih dingiin in this so-called-summer.

i love hotpants too, but not that tight. especially when from mon-fri i have to wear a neat and preppy clothes to the offc. hotpants and oversize tee’s is my escapism on the weekend. ;P
and about the knees, yeah.. the knees.

hotpants is in, gw pengen beli shorts… bukan hot pants, cos hotpants di topshop gitu apalagi… itu PENDEK BANGET, beneran klo diliat pas di hangersnya… itu paling cuman 1″ dari selangkangan… oala….
tp di sini banyak yg pake dengan tights kok… yg semi-opaque gituw, jadi hasilnya mirip kayak klo pake mini aja..

hmmm..kayanya di jakarta juga ‘in’ lagi tu hotpants. Di mall2, banyak anak2 abg gitu pake hotpants.. I thought it was in-style again, but I don’t know never been a fan of ‘em.

Hot pants kayaknya selalu in, karena perfect outfit for summer kali ye. Tapi sebenernya summer 2007 ini bukan very very short hot pants yang lagi hot. What’s hot this summer is walking shorts, shorts that hit right above the knees. As for the lady in the pic, I think she was okay. But I am afraid that she actually had a camel toe for wearing hot pants that were too small/tights for her (I wish I could see the back so I could make more comments :). And all black in a hot sunny day of S’pore? Plus, you gotta have a splash of colors. 2007 is all about colors! Retro colors especially.

purplerebel… i agree with you to the hilt. gue juga demennya shorts yg fall just right above the knee. selain hides all my sins, shorts above the knee gituan PW banget buat ke mal. yah, mgk jg krn udara panas, trus juga bosen skinny jeans, makanya gue alternate sama shorts. trus berhubung leggings udah terlalu menjamur di jkt, jadi gue pengen cut back dulu pemakaian leggings. beberapa bulan lalu mungkin gue bisa mencak2 kalo disuruh pake wide legged pants, tp sekarang gue embrace the trend deh, abisnya udah mulai bosen sama skinny jeans yang udah ngetrend untuk waktu yg cukup lama. not that i have anything against skinny jeans, in fact saking cintanya sama skinny jeans, gue punya mulai dari yg murah sampe yang lebih mahal dari weekly apt rent gue.
anyway, itu cewe yg difoto kesian amat sih…
padahal “dosa” dia kan cuma dengkul item, black colour overdose, dan maybe clothes that are a size too small. padahal kalo gue liat foto gue 5 taon yg lalu, kayaknya gue bisa eneg gila sama style dan penampilan gue di jaman itu.
oh iya, satu lagi, singapore has always been hot, and getting hotter by day. dari pertama kalinya gue skul di sg umur 11, cabut dari sono umur 16, tinggal di oz ampe 21, n skrg tinggal di jkt, udara yg paling gue benci adalah di sg. makanya cewe2 sg demen banget pake baju yg super sexy, walaupun *maaf* tubuh mereka terkadang tidak menunjang aesthetic pemakaian baju sexy, e.g baju berdada rendah.

imo u guys r bein way too harsh. in aus, its normal to wear shorts, evn if its durin business hour esp pas summer. wong panas gt loh? dat chick in black isnt dt bad, bnyk kali ce2 yg lebi parah di sini. its not her fault punya dengkul item, emank ud dr sononya kali lol …
