So sorry for the lack of posts recently, I have been bed-ridden for the past one week with a nasty cold. Although being stuck at home for days weren’t fun, I had to admit that I really benefit from the much-needed rest and my skin was also thanking me for giving it a long break from makeup!
I’ve also been trying to a new skin care regime. If for the past 2 years, I’ve been using a line of skin care containing Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AhA), salycic acid, Benzoyl Peroxide, etc etc to improve the condition of skin, I now want to go back to a basic routine, using reliable products to cleanse, tone and moisturize twice daily. And what better products to use for these simple steps than Clinique 3-Steps?
Clinique 3-Steps system has been around forever and is as reliable and effective as your mom’s homemade jamu. (Errr, my mom’s homemade jamu at least, hehehe). It’s dermatologist-developed and custom-fit to your skin’s needs. According to the beauty consultant at my local Clinique counter, I am type II. My skin is normal to oily - even though at certain wheathers and hormonal condition, my skin is more to the oily side. So I bought the Facial Soap Mild (soap bar), Clarifying Moisture Lotion 2 and Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion (DDML).
The Facial Soap feels soft on my skin and gives me a squeaky clean feeling. At first I was hesitant to buy this bar because I’m just afraid it would be impractical and unhygenic - but as it turned out, they gave me a soap dish with a lid with this soap and the dish will make travelling with this soap easy.
The Clarifying Moisture Lotion 2 is also a nice toner to use after the soap and the DDML…well, this is one of Clinique’s best-selling moisturizer of all time so what can say? It never failed me! However, I am thinking of buying this one in gel formula to use during the daytime. Because I think the lotion is a bit too oily for my skin during the day so I only put on a thin layer.

The verdict? I’m glad I rediscovered this basic skin care staple because it’s good and safe enough to use everyday. If you want to try the Clinique 3-Step system, they are now offering a package consisting of :
- Facial Soap Mild with Dish, 50 g
- Clarifying Moisture Lotion, 60 ml
- Dramatically Different Lotion, 30 ml
- High Impact Mascara in Black (small size)
Everything for just Rp. 250,000 plus a nice cosmetic bag to put all your skin care essentials when you travel!
I don’t know until when they have this offer or if it’s available outside Jakarta, but if you live in the city, just make a stop to the Clinique counter and ask for it.

masa 120rb?
dulu aja, 3th yg lalu udah 200an geto.
dulu g juga pake clinique. sampai g mengenal dokter hendra wong, klinik permata tendean.
i tell you the truth, efek yg kalo pake clinique baru berasa 1 bulanan, nah kalo pake sabun, pore minimizer dan smoothing creamnya dokter wong, seminggu aja udah ok banget
i assume, it all because clinique was made for mass industrial purpose, which mean it has to fit with mass user so it has common ingredient, while dr wong product has been adjusted to my skin need.
any how, g suka pake clinique

I received so many compliments about my skin after I used their complete range. Makanya gue memutuskan untuk take a break from those products and go back to basic. Seperti yg Rika bilang, Clinique has ‘common’ ingredients jadi relatif lebih aman.
Anonymous,
Glad you also like the products! Gue juga mau beli supercity block-nya Clinique nih kayaknya untuk sunblocknya, punya gue udah abis soalnya.
Hanzky,
Iya tuh, temen2 gue juga sabunnya dipotong2 gitu. Emang yg ukuran regular sabunnya gede banget sih hanz, tapi karena gue belinya yang ukuran kecil (50 gram), jadi gak perlu dipotong lagi, ukurannya pas bgt!
Anonymous 2 (temennya hanzky),
My mistake, I should’ve been more specific. Type 2 itu emang untuk kulit yang berminyak di T-zone, tapi agak kering di bagian pipi - and that’s my skin in general! Thanks for the correction

kalo baca di makeupalley.com kok pada bilang 3-step-nya Clinique ini jelek yah? harsh buat kulit katanya. gue sih ga pernah nyobain krn keburu serem duluan baca reviewnya. temen gue dulu pernah nyobain dan awal2nya dia demen tapi abis itu lama2 jg dia bilang gak bagus dan stop pake…

Numpang nimbrung.
Dapet moisturizing lotion + Facial Soap Mild + Clarifying Lotion 2.
Sumhow gue coba yg Clarifying Lotion kok panas banget ya dimuka?! Rasanya kayak dipakein pure alcohol.. langsung merah!! Ngga lagi-lagi deh. Langsung nyemplung tong sampah. FYI, kulit muka gw sensitive sih.. jd cocok-cocokan juga kali yaa.
I’ve been using the Moisturizing Lotion for 4 years. L-O-V-E the product

Im a big fan of the 3-steps, been using it for 10 years and I love it. Never had any major skin problem since the first time I used it.
Memang sih pas pertama pake sabun dan tonernya langsung berasa kering dan kenceng banget mukanya, terus kayak disiram alkohol sperti yang Melissa bilang … but thats why its called the 3 steps cause afterward you have to apply the DDML that will moisturize your skin right away.
Koukla, I love the Superdefense moisturizer! Coba Turnaround Concentratenya de untuk krim malam. Kalau pake ini besok paginya kulit gue langsung dewy dan make-up ready.

Anonymous,
Gue sih terus terang kalo untuk facial skin care jarang dengerin review orang, karena apa yg bagus/jelek di kulit orang, belum tentu sama efeknya di kulit gue. Jadi gue mendingan coba sendiri aja dan so far sih I have no problems at all with the products from Clinique 3-Step.
Melissa,

hi … this used to be my staples, back in NY. stlh di jkt, gue balik ke product dokter gue. since i have oily skin, even in winter, i was recommended to use DDMG (in gel, not in lotion), and i’m a type 3. once in a while, gue masih pake sabun sama tonernya.

Kalau untuk mask gue paling suka Turnaround 15 Minute Facial the website said that its the cocktail of exfoliants … yummy! Kalo Moisture Surge itu lebih ke extra moisturizer, gue sih lebih prefer beli moisturize surge face spray jadi kalo in the middle of the day kulit gue dry tinggal di spray ajah and it wont ruin ur make-up.
BTW Superdefense, Turnaround Concentrate dan 15 Minute Facial semuanya dijual sampelnya kalau mau coba dulu

Mama Rafyara,
Iya, percaya kok say, cuma kaget aja. Hehehee, tapi kayaknya itu yg ukuran kecil2 ya, makanya murah. Kalo yg gue beli ukurannya medium lah, gak kecil2 bgt.
Anonymous,
Iya sih kalo kulit yg sensitif nggak ada salahnya baca2 review sebelum beli skincare. Gue juga heran kenapa reviewnya 3-step bisa kebanyakan jeleknya sementara menurut gue produknya netral2 aja. Apa kulit gue yg badak bgt ya? Hehehe..
Deszell,
Wah gue jadi tertarik tuh pake Total Turnaround. Nanti deh gue cari sample2nya dulu ya biar gak rugi beli yg full size. Kalo untuk spray itu gue udah punya MAC Charged Water, fungsinya sama kayak yg moisturesurge and it smells wonderful!
Imelda,
Ada memang yg liquid soap tapi kebetulan paket yg gue beli itu sabun yg di-offer yang bar, sementara kalo liquid soapnya lagi out of stock (katanya).
