I was browsing BCBG look book the other day and one particular look caught my eyes because of its color palette, particularly the coral colored cardigan. I have a bolero in the same color that I barely wear because, for the life of me, I couldn’t find the perfect color combination other than pairing it with jeans and white top. Looking at this look makes me realized that coral goes well with khakis and blue. You think since I’ve been pairing it with jeans I would automatically think that it would also goes well with blue top. Well, obviously that is not the case with me..:p.
I immediate went to to my closet to find the same color combination.
I found a khaki cropped pants who was once a long bell bottom pants. I don’t have a blue top like that..so..I glanced toward my jewelry hangers and found the same shade of blue in the form of a necklace that my best friend got me from Bali. I was pretty excited by then. After that, I threw a white shirt and voila, I just put together an outfit that I would never thought of if I didn’t stumbled upon the look book. I know it’s not exactly the same, and I think that’s the whole point of being inspired. If it looks good in the magazine or on a mannequin doesn’t mean it will also looks good on you. You have to work with your shape and with what you like and what you have.
This made me wondering how other people create an outfit. How do you do it? Are you one of those people who are blessed with a natural ability to whip together a stylish outfit? Or do you have to learn to be stylish? Where do you look for inspiration? Magazine? Celebrity? Or maybe from random people you see everyday?
More pictures from the website. I love anything BCBG. I think BCBG stays true to its acronyms, Bon Chic Bon Genre (good style good attitude). They have tons of adorable tops and dresses that are wearable and scream effortless chic. and the size runs big, so it makes me feel better about my body..:D.

I definitely wasn’t born with the ability to put together a stylish outfit (tho I suspect some people were). I got inspirations from magazines, people around me including my mom (she’s very stylish!), style network, internet, etc. Tapi kalo soal warna, gue cenderung berani tabrak lari sih hanz, gak terlalu gue pikirin bgt matching apa enggaknya, yg penting gue suka. Kalo soal model, cut, dll itu yg gue rasa gue masih butuh inspirasi sebanyak2nya walaupun at least gue udah bisa ‘jujur’ sekarang ttg what works for me and what doesn’t.

Frankly I used to be boy-ish and ignorant about fashion.. until I trapped in girls-only high school! LOL.
Thanks to some coquettish girlfriends out there :p
As for style guide, I read fashion magazines and browse some fashion sites; like this one!

Oh how I wish I had the time to look through mags and style books, hehehe. Having two kids under the age of five makes it a little tricky to really dress the way I want to sometimes. But….I do “play dress-up” time on Friday afternoons when my kids take their naps. Mix&match my stuff and jot down all the combos I like, along with the jewelry, shoes and bag to go with the outfit. It’s fun to do (until my alarm goes off to remind me that dinner needs to get done, huh). I do go through some magazines before I shop for clothes and its accesories, make a list and try to stick with it (complete with hues and specific styles), so I don’t get carried away with buying similar items over and over again.

udah panjang2 nulis eh ilang hehe.
anyway, magazines are definite inspiration. my current muse, however, is my boss, a 68-year old British scientist. her style maybe too feminine for my taste, but the way she really pull it off together and creates a personal style that is chic, neat and classic but not plain is really inspiring. she wears a lot of black, but mixes and matches it with colors and accessories (she likes big jewelleries, mostly silver, and scarf). it’s fun to come to work everyday and guessing what outfit she wears this time, while our field of work is not even close to fashion. am not ashamed to admit that i stole more than one and two ideas from her

Koukla: wah gue masih nggak berani nih padu padan warna yang agak agak nggak common (apalagi tabrak motif!!.but this is something I would never do anyway)
Devi: Hihi..cerita nya kurang lebih sama ama yang di point of view yaa…:D
Irish: Coba site ini rish http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/home. Lumayan seru kayanya, but you have to upload pics of all your items, nanti tinggal drag and drop deh untuk padu padannya dan bisa di save.
