Good Old Retinol

I left my Estee Lauder advance night repair back home, so I was desperately need some sort of night cream to help me get through this winter weather. I could’ve easily bought the same thing again but I wanted to try different product because even though I didn’t feel any problem with the Estee Lauder ANR, I feel that it didn’t work its magic on me. I haven’t seen any improvement on my skin, (I know that’s maybe because I haven’t been using it long enough). Most of the time, the case with skincare is not what you see, but what you don’t see. But I’m a sucker for anything that can give me instant result..:D.

The one ingredient that I want in the jar is the retin-A/retinol. One of the ingredients that the dermatologists has seen crystal-clear demonstration that it works. It’s been popular since a few decades ago. Good for its anti-aging effects, helps normalizing the cell and affect the retention of collagen. (Btw, collagen is what gives skin its structure, firmness and elasticity, the older we are, the less collagen that the cells produce, makanya jadi ada yang namanya keriput, kulit kendur/ sagginess and loses fullness (makanya banyak yang jadi pada suntik kolagen).

Kalo dulu retin-a ini cuma bisa di dapat dari dokter aja, tapi sekarang udah banyak produk produk kecantikan yang menggunakan retinol. You have to be patient though, karena biasanya dalam 2-3 minggu pertama, it can make your skin look worse with redness, flakiness and peeling, tapi jangan khawatir karena seharusnya setelah itu baru deh keliatan dramatic improvement-nya.

Setelah cari cari review nya di makeupalley.com (hehe, I would never buy skincare without reading all of the reviews in there), RoC is supposedly really good. I’ve seen their products in Walgreens but never cared to find out more about it(I was a sephora snob, remember?!..:p). I never thought that it’s actually a French based company, founded by a collaboration of dermatologists and pharmacist. I got the RoC retinol actif pur anti-wrinkle night treatment, the price is good for my wallet ($17.99). So far, even though I haven’t noticed much improvement (it’s only been a week..)..I do feel that my face looks a bit brighter and it doesn’t give me rash so I can continue using the product while crossing my fingers that it will work..:D.

Btw, while we are on the beauty product subject..anyone know where to find Burt bees,Origins product, Crabtree & Evelyn and BareMinerals/Escentuals in Jakarta? I have received a few emails asking me about those products, but I don’t know where they could be found. Kayanya nggak ada yah?. I think the best bet is to order from amazon.com.. sorry I’m not much of a help here.

han, product2 yg elo mention itu emang gak ada di jkt. paling kalo sampe ada yg jual itu titipan org bawa dari sono which is overrated banget deh pricingnya. dobel2 gitu deh hehehe. i know that coz i use those products. u know my fav hehe…gue beli origins di singapore bo. or nitip aja dari US. burt’s bees kayaknya di US doang deh. makanya gue kemaren pas ke US lagi, gue beli sekali segambreng ehhehe bisa stock setaon or dua taon. crabtree juga mesti beli di US kali. gue jarang sih pake crabtree, kecuali kalo dikasih mertua gue yg demen ama crabtree n ngasih crabtree. kalo bare minerals kan emang baru. di US kan baru jg barangnya. i guess u cant get it anywhere else.

btw, elo gak epek ama ANR? ehhehe itu epeknya kalo dah yearly use lagi bu. gue sih udah pake 3 taonan. and i think it works fine on me. buat jaga aja. tapi the eye cream works wonder on me. only 6 months use, i can see that my eye crows getting less sih. waktu itu fine linenya parah. eh setelah pake ANR eye cream, getting less and ada yg ilang sih.

u may want to try elizabeth arden yg plump perfect itu atau serumnya. itu sih udah ke bukti byk org pake (gue liat nyokap gue sih n nyokap temen gue) hehehe…plumpy2 kulitnya masih sekarang sampe saat ini, padahal udah gak pake lagi udah lama. mereka pakenya pas umur 30-40. gue lagi mo coba switch ke EA nih, tapi belon2an. maybe later. another good products by chanel. eye creamnya ok banget bo. kayaknya gue recommend dua itu deh u/ eye cream, ANR estee ama chanel yg aduh lupa gue nama panjangnya. kayaknya gue pernah kasih tau elo deh di comment. tapi ajubileh deh mayan mahal. weellll…beauty is expensive )

Setau gue evelin & crabtree ada kok di SG, di duty free airportnya atau di suntec city mall.

Gue pernah liat satu toko cosmetics and skin care di plasa semanggi yang jual victoria secret (tapi gak murah hehe), tapi gue lupa nama tokonya. Gue pengin coba liat di toko ini apa ngejual produk2 E&C, Origins, burt bees, bare, dll, tapi belum sempet nih.
Mungkin ada yang pernah kesana?

ellaaa: kangen nih buu…iya emang authorized dealernya nggak ada ya, palingan mungkin ada individual/butik2 lokal yang jual ya, tapi gue sih nggak mau beli skin care kalo nggak dari toko..takut aja kan kita nggak tau barangnya baru/lama. kalo di sini kan yang lama lama biasanya di oper ke discounted store kaya marshalls/tj maxx. Mungkin elo bisa coba kali tuh la jualan burt bees?..heheh..

iya ANR belum keliatan sih efek nya, mungkin harus pake yang intensive itu kali ya. gue pake elizabeth arden eye creamnya yang ceramide wish, ganti2 sih sama philosophy eye cream.

ya nanti kalo online gue msg elo yaa..

chikka: iya origins ada di singapore sama malaysia, coba aja liat di http://www.origins.com untuk list of stores nya. victoria secret udah banyak kayanya yang jual di jakarta. di PIM 2 juga ada tokonya, gue lupa namanya apa, pokonya di sebelahnya watson, nggak tau sih harganya berapa..gue nggak ngecheck.

Gw tertarik banget liat review tentang Burt Bees.. Langsung lari ke amazon.com, n ternyata lebih tertarik lagi.. the price absolutely reasonable, n produk2nya kayaknya yummy banget.. peppermint shower, almond milk hand cream, and of course the legendary lip balm.. langsung order starter kit.. but oh no.. I coudn’t continue at some step.. protes ke customer carenya.. ternyata mereka gak bisa shipping beauty goods ke Indo.. apa bener yah ??
trus caranya gimana ya, jeung2 FD, buat pesen make up n body care dari amazon..??
